The instrument you are wondering about at the start is called a Hurdy Gurdy in English, it's been around since as least the mid to late medieval age, and was used commonly in churches and such before the pipe organ came to be, in modern times it's common to see it being used in folk focused music be it traditional folk, folk rock, folk metal etc. An other artist here on youtube called Patty Gurdy has a lot of music dedicated on the instrument if you want to see more of it.
