Did anyone ever test his theory that the motor operates better with a cap across the start switch (24:00)? That sounds fascinating.

That chip is clearly tilted. It is not possible to do a proper rework without hot air. The QFN has to be re-leveled. Not a good example on how to to rework.

I really don't think his method has anything wrong with it, he is whipping stuff up
