I loved her in "Mrs. Miniver", but I think my favorite Greer Garson movie is "Random Harvest" with Ronald Colman. A tear-jerker of the first degree, but excellently acted.

Greer Garson has always been my favorite actress, so talented, a class act and stunningly beautiful. I loved all her movies but my favorite was "Adventure" with Clarke Gable and Joan Blondel. It was the first movie Gable made after returning from the service in WWII. The headlines for the movie was "Gable's back and Garson's got him" It is very hard to find. I haven't seen it on TV in years. I have it in VHS tape and treat it like gold!!

omg i don't know what it is about her but when she talks it is so captivating; she could be talking about madness and you'd still be listening with absolute attention

Just saw two of her great old movies this weekend: "Goodbye, Mr. Chips" and her well- deserved Oscar-winning performance as "Mrs. Miniver." They sure don't make ANY movies like those anymore.

In Hollywood she was a queen social bee. Loved people, people loved her. Sophisticated, witty. As an actress, she established a remarkably broad range, even succeeding as Eleanor Roosevelt. "Mrs. Miniver" was her golden moment but actually she enjoyed many golden moments. If you have not seen "Pride and Prejudice" you must see it. I love all the Elizabeth Bennets, particularly Kiera Knightley, but Greer Garson it's general agreed established the role with indelible flavor.

@jhr459 So glad to find another fan to share the love of this highly gifted actress with. I adore Mrs. Miniver and it's sequel as well. It's hard to keep a dry eye while watching. I love Mr. Chips, her first film too. She was breath taking, I just wish she was in the movie longer. Although I understand why she wasn't. God bless & Peace be with you.

In the '58 show, Miss Garson was dressed as her character she was playing at the time...Auntie Mame and she mentions what 8 shows a week had done to her voice.

I am not of Ms. Greer Garson's generation, but being raised on the classics & a cinema buff. I fell in love with her movies & have some taped on VHS tapes from TCM. She & Myrna Loy became tied for 1st place as my top fav actresses. It really has been a hard struggle, but I had to finally decide on which is my fav movie. Tied between Valley Of Decision, Random Harvest & Adventure. Did Garson & Loy ever do a film together? Thank you & God Bless you.

Enormously popular in the film colony. A great hostess. Her range as an actress was wide; she could do anything and did. She was one of the few actresses at M-G-M who could stand up to Louis B. Mayer and get her way. She could be stubborn when she needed to be, but always pleasant and logical. She had a very long career, aging beautiful and moving on to older roles impeccably. Her portrayal of Eleanor Roosevelt was magnificient, right on the mark with no sense of parody.

Wayne Brasler Unfortunately her career broke very much down after age 53. She got no more roles and therefore retired after having married a rich Texan. This is such a HUUUGE waste of potential that I am still mad at the sexist idiots who robbed us of the joy of her great talent far too early!

She always said she was born in Ireland, but when they found her birth certificate it shows she was born in London. However she did have familiy in Nothern Ireland, I believe. What a shame they didn't do the 'one question at a time, in turn, moving clockwise',because that way she could probably have fooled them longer. Such a funny accent coming from her! Great actress, full of energy and intelligence.

sonjaxfactor, a) Bennett Cerf was EXTREMELY clever at figuring out who the guests were, clearly a man of great intelligence; b) all of the panelists tried to keep informed about celebrities who were in town, because it helped them at mystery-guest time.

@musicalqueen101 Not even close in acting talent...Greer Garson was much superior. Mirren admits one of the reasons she got so many roles is because she was good at getting her "kit off" (Doing nude scenes). I can't say too much bad about that however as I took for my last name her most famous of nude roles "Caligula". Back to Garson, alot of folks felt she should've been ashamed for her second marriage to Richard Ney, 15 years her jr. She was typecast in "Minever-type" roles forever
