When you constantly are changing the lines (even during the game) just to find some spark or chemistry, that’s not going to do it. Because, not playing together all the time or close to it, isn’t going to get any kind of chemistry. I don’t believe it’s chemistry at all. Considering these top 6 have already been playing together for quite a few years now. So the chemistry is there. If you have a 5 v 3 and can’t score at least 1 goal, how are they going to score on a 5 v 5? I thing I notice is there are to much passing attempts on the PP. Their passing has been atrocious even on 5 v 5. It constantly gets picked off. Just look at that weak pass McAvoy tried and intercepted by Farabee for the empty netter. Maybe they’re not buying into the coaches way anymore. Maybe Monty needs to change the PP style. What really confuses me is how they can come out in a game have a great 1st period then go to hell in a hand basket in the next 2. Or, start slow and have no intensity in the first 2 periods and play like hell in the 3rd. Either way, something needs to be done.

Look hard enough and you can find a weakness on every nhl team. Some are glaring like the sharks. Some are a matter of timing when a couple players on any given team show up after spending to much time at the cabin. But it is early and things will change. The bs are starting to pay the price for giving up so many draft picks for ? The oilers goaltending has been abysmally bad. The salary cap makes putting a solid team together a challenge. That said the canes, golden knights, panthers etc. seem to have found a way and it usually comes down to finding those bottom 6 or 7 low priced players to fill the rosters. The guys that play with sandpaper and the bs got so lucky with 4th line. Imagine where they would be without them. The boston bottom feeders. The new Lindholm was essentially a cast off because of dropping production. We got two throw ins with a meh goalie from Ottawa, of which one appears useful thus far. Lorai seems to have an on-ice gambling addiction. Coyle is a great hard working guy but all the wishes in the universe aren't going to make him a 2nd line center. McAvoy is a decent defenseman who isn't nearly as impactful as the announcers seem to think (and never was). Geekie looks like he belongs on the back of a milk carton. The other Lindholm has been on cruise control since his 2nd season with the B's. Essentially, most of the fans I know were looking forward to the further development of Brazeau and Poitras and if Carlo and Peeke could improve as the most consistent defensemen who focus on defense. I've been a B's fan for over 4 decades now. I've seen a lot of lows and some pretty fun highs (and one truly epic high). I know what's wrong. The goalie that won the lottery with that new contract is out spending the money. He doesn't care if the bruins win. He's got millions for the rest of his life. Hopefully he'll settle down and get all his galavanting and money burning bullshit out of the way before Christmas so the bruins can make the playoffs. Because the truth is if Swayman plays terrible he'll be bought out and get another contract with another team. Then he'll get two checks per week and won't give a shit about stopping pucks anymore. That's why the bruins didn't want to pay him too much. He's a kid and he'll go crazy with the money and chase women and drink and do all the shit he's not supposed to do. I've seen it before. I'll see it again. 25 year old millionaire just doing whatever he wants from now on. That's what Cam Neely was saying when he didn't want to pay too much for a relatively unproven goalie. Swayman has never been the starter with an average backup. He's going to have to carry the load now and if he can't he's gonna be an albatross on the salary cap. Let's hope he gets his shit together and doesn't embarrass himself and the bruins. But my thoughts are that it's going to take about a year for Swayman to settle in and not be out spending money like a drunken sailor. It usually does take a while but let's hope he comes around soon or eventually. If not I smell a big stinky buyout lurking in one of the upcoming off-seasons. I still think that they should have traded him instead of signing him to a huge contract.

He's created a culture in that locker room where playing below NHL level hockey is acceptable. Look at the amount of ridiculous, undisciplined penalties the team keeps taking.
