Chain wrench is definitely the way to go. If the band wrenches don't work and the strap wrench doesn't work, the chain wrench comes out. Bought a long 24" one from Crescent. Use it 60% of the time every time.

Case sells a similar strap wrench as Cat, part # SC11000. Snap on makes them for Case I think, I would recommend them.

Question, I have a log splitter filter ( buyers 50gpm). I cannot for the life of me remove that filter from the housing. I've tried muscle strength and I also tried a large c-clamp. all the c-clamp did was crush the filter, but the filter is still seized onto the housing. I ordered a channel lock filter plier and I will try that. Can you please tell me what caused that filter to seize that much onto the housing? before I put in that filter, I did oil the gasket but i dont think i oiled the threads from the housing. I hand tightened the filter tho i think i over tightened it. What do you think is the cause?

I have the giant pair of Channellock's like you have there and they do a pretty good job on filters i can get at but those dam recessed in tight location filters really suck. where you can only reach it with a cup wrench or something they suck when you can't get in from sides just the end

I have those Matco pliers branded OTC and they just feel awkward. I’ve actually had little success with any filter pliers as I just don’t like the feel. I have a like a few different brands of the strap style wrenches. I have the Matco/gearwrench ones, the snap on one you showed (actually 3 of that one) and the cat one I ordered from a local cat dealer PN : 185-3630. They all have pros and cons but the cats were my personal favorite. Just wish they were a little more robust for how much they are. Have a lot of issues with the snap rings popping off on stubborn filters. Just recently I picked up some of the metal strap wrenches to try out similar to your bluepoint ones but used with a ratchet. Can never have too many tools haha
