Wonderful topic, Lance. I look forward to part two. I consider myself lucky to have purchased records from Paul Major in the 80s & 90s. In fact, I still have a bunch of his old lists on hand. Even today, I refer & review Paul's lists for their depth of knowledge & information. I'm certain I speak for many music enthusiasts for whom Paul's catalogs opened a world unknown to even the most experienced collectors & obsessed Goldmine ad detectives.

Thank you! Paul deserves a lot of credit in this zone. His original “Feel The Music” catalogs are some of my most prized possessions. People like him paved the way for younger collectors like me. I owe him and his peers a great debt of gratitude. Just wish I could’ve been there with ‘em.I was born in the wrong decade!

Great selection! "Rockin' All Nite Long" is such a cool title for an album, and sounded really cool as well. So I went to Discogs to put it in my wantlist, but apparently it was already there. I put it there 6 yrs ago 😂 Totally forgot it. Speaking of private presses with wild real people rock'n'roll, check out Bob Boden & Rick Hammang "Home Wrecker" from 1978. Looking forward to the part 2. Nice work Lance!

Wow, impressive collection! You've got so many of the heavy hitters. Absolutely love Kenneth Higney and the Bobby Brown records. Up here in Oregon we've got Ernest Hood (ambient/new age zither+synth) and Michael Garrison (berlin school kosmische). Psyched for part 2 and thanks to all the heads who uncover and help reissue this stuff (particular nod to Douglas McGowan for his incredible new age work and that ridiculous Konrad LP)

@@flower5185 Thank you! This is just the tip of the iceberg. Good and Garrison are great! We find a lot of the latter overseas, oddly. Douglas knows his stuff. Proud to call him a friend. His Ted Lucas reissue is one of my all-time favorites!

Is the Hopi Klansmen record in that acid archives book? I remember when I found it there was almost no info on it other than that it was in a book like that, and no sales history at the time. I love how that ‘Enjoy the experience’ book cover looks like a private press record lol And I had no idea Greg turkington was a record collector, I know he’s busy the VFA 😂

Were you referring to Stanley Mouse that did the artwork on that Ted Lucas LP? It's funny because I was looking at it thinking that it looked a lot like the Journey Infinity, Evolution, Departure, etc wings on those late 70s Journey albums. And then you said what you said about the artist. I don't know anything about Stanley Mouse but I do remember his name on the artwork on those albums back when I was a kid in the early 80s and I was going back and buying those albums. Very cool! Brian in Fort Worth 🎶

Is the greatest 20th century Private Press Lp Lewis -L'Amour? Maybe? For the music and the 'story' about its construction, aftermath. Not super rare -probably 100-200 copies, somewhere, but one I've never found in the wild. Enjoy the Experience, a fine read!
@PermanentRecordsLA2 күн бұрын
The first Lewis album definitely checks all the boxes for me, even as a guy who generally values heavier music. It's incredibly unique sonically and the backstory is simply unbelievable. Super chill, subtly sexy, polite awakening vibes. I can't recall ever seeing it in the wild, but I've been offered the second record and it was $1200 or something like that. I considered it, but left it behind for a bigger fan. Enjoy the Experience is a fine read indeed, and great life advice! Thanks for your comment. Viva L'Amour!
