I have a 91 SG (61 reissue) and will never get rid of it. In fact, I’ll probably be buried with it. I’ve toured with it, bled on it, spilt beer on it and it’s in not so perfect condition now. But it sounds and plays amazing and every dent and scratch is mine. The best part was it was built on my birthday when I turned 19.

Good comparison ! May I add the trussrod cover and pickguard have a wider white edge, the frets maybe better polished and crowned on the CS, the fretboard darker, I did not notice any head dive on the CS and most and foremost the neck profile is one of the best/fastest I've ever played on. The CustomBuckers clean up very nicely and sound fantastic at the edge of breakup. When you manupulate the tone knobs to get the sound you want, the sprague caps really make a difference. The finishing and attention to detail is top notch on the CS. Ok: you pay a lot more for a CS model but the feel is superb. My 2¢

Hey man, really dig your channel... I love SG's, they are light in weight, fret access to the higher registers is second to none as well, I also like the shape of the body too because it's pretty comfortable to play sitting down while I'm practicing. I own three SG's atm, I used to have four even however I sold a Tribute I had which I kind of regret now because it had a much thicker neck on that one and it's nice if you're doing a lot of rhythm playing and chording, at least for me but that's preference as well. The three I own now are Standards and a Special w/ P90's. Thus far I haven't bought a custom shop, maybe one of these days - who knows. For me, the biggest difference between them is the aniline dye color they use at the CS. It's a far more rich and deep color, I think it looks nicer for sure but the cost difference is huge too obviously. Thanks for your review man, definitely options to consider if and when we're in the market to buy either one 👍

Spent my whole life playing SGs, from 1968 to 1989, also with a new 81 Les Paul sustom, which was my backup. The Les Paul is built like a tank, just as heavy, so I bought a 2020 SG standard, and between 69 to 75, I had seven, due to theft, and a accident with a roadie. I still cant tell any difference in any of them, or any change in pickups. My Les Paul I paid 5000 dollars for in 1981, and it has the same pickups as my SGstandard. My wife, who was a music teacher said I had perfect pitch, what sound is on these that I am missing, they all sound like humbuckers to me. I have always preferred Gibson and never had string problems. I dont know why, but older guitars sound a touch better in tone and louder in volume. Then again, could be bat shit crazy.
