I pretty much exclusively use Infini sanding products now. I switch between sanding sticks, sponges, sheets on holder, and knife depending on the parts and nubs.
@GunplaUniversity4 жыл бұрын
yea they are sooooo good right? hard to beat in my opinion. knife for nubs is probably what i use the least personally.

There's this thing I saw called a polish box? But I can't seem to find them online. Maybe I have the wrong name for it? But I guess you use it after you sand? I have a kit made of abs plastic I'm working on now. I hope it's ok to sand down the nubs? Like the markings they leave behind?
@GunplaUniversity2 жыл бұрын
not sure ive ever heard of that before but in general just working your way down to a fine grit will minimize the visible marks left.

Great video. +1 for the infinity sponges and sticks. I recently tried the god hand ones and although are still good, the infinity sponges are far better.
@GunplaUniversity4 жыл бұрын
thanks ed!!. yea i completely agree with you there on the GH ones. the infini sponges are def superior

@@GunplaUniversity FYI I just built a lightsaber kit, and man it was a lot of sanding. I could not get the 3d print lines off with the infini so I tried my old god hand sponges and it just fell off. I was surprised because I loved the infini at first. I tried another kit where I had to sand seams and man the god 400-800did a better job, I couldn't believe. I do like the less fatigue factor of the stick, but going back as it just works better for me . Compare 400 to 400 on a seam removal and you will see what I mean. Also keep up the good work, great content...
@RPN_072 жыл бұрын
I have a question, for you how many kits do this thing sand before its gone.
@GunplaUniversity2 жыл бұрын
i do this on every kit i build. the only exception may be the small SD kits i just snap together for a quick shelf kit.

I’m a beginner and I only built one Entry Grade and one Easy High grade, I wanna get rid of seem lines so which sticks and sponges should I get? Don’t want to buy what won’t get used.
@GunplaUniversity3 жыл бұрын
well they both have their purpose. id recommend both. they are both equally important and useful. there are also some other techniques youll learn down the live that will eliminate seems lines.

Do you have a recommendation for how to buff/polish the plastic after you've sanded it
@GunplaUniversity3 жыл бұрын
sure, after youve sanded, bump up the grit to something much higher, say 2000 grit and up. the higher up you go the better shine youll get
@Shadowslayer0293 жыл бұрын
@@GunplaUniversity thank you, and do you think it would be worth it to get the gunprimer white balancer?

Hi just saw your vid, I have those exact sanding sponges, how would you suggest to clean them as I have some and they are very dusty from the work I’ve been doing???
@Motaka14 жыл бұрын
So, is it weird that I use my exacto knife to knock out the nubs? Gonna get a set of sticks and sponges next week to try out.
@GunplaUniversity4 жыл бұрын
no i see other people who do that but in my experience i cant get things as clean with a knife as i can with sticks and sponges. i think you will enjoy them.

What grid should i use for sanding?
@GunplaUniversity4 жыл бұрын
Both the sticks and sponges are for sanding just depends on what type of party u are sanding. For grit I personally start with a 400 grit and then clean up with a 800-1000 grit
@xxnike0629xx4 жыл бұрын
I definitely agree that if you're going to buy things like this, it's good to buy both the sticks and sponge variants. The sponge variant is definitely more suited to sand rounded, curved, spiked, or edges. The stick variants are better for flat surfaces. It's logical and physics. I really should buy some more since it's been years since I bought any. I've also considered the 'RASER' products. I wonder if MechaWarehouse has those or will get those? I think I asked Nick about getting them a while ago. But he's been busy moving into the warehouse so maybe he hasn't had the time.
@GunplaUniversity4 жыл бұрын
yea i dont think he has any of the raser stuff just yet. ive got a coming video on the raser file soon
@skatetool873 жыл бұрын
You recommend them on HG kits ? The sponge sticks look big.
@GunplaUniversity3 жыл бұрын
yea they still work well on HGs but your right in assuming that there are time where on a HG they can be a little big

I think it could've benefitted from an example to show at what stages of nubs you might change grit numbers.

@soyUsernameWasTaken2 жыл бұрын
best. just cut and tape em to sticks, or sponges. you get best of both worlds for the price of one (and cheaper, too). or just manipulate them with your hands, i know some people who prefers this because of its extreme versatility.
@GunplaUniversity2 жыл бұрын
you can use steel sticks with paper sanding as well
