A wonderful performance of a wonderful pop song. My fav Nick Heyward tune, and what a tunesmith he is.

Wonderful, thank you for posting!!! This was the clip for me that I saw that night and have never been able to quite get out of my head for all these years. Nick and band were fantastic and Conan always had the best musical guests in those days hands down.

Nice, I worked with Nick on the Wham final in Wembley Stadium in 1986, love this track, sounds typical Nick Heyward, lovely.

I have only just stumbled across this clip which! for me, ( not withstanding the superb vocals being too low in the mix), eclipses both the studio and other live versions that I've heard. Ive always loved the pathos and delivery of this song. Many thanks to What's for afters? for posting! You made my day 😊😊😊

You’re so right about the mix. Vocals AND mandolin were too far down in the mix. Lovely song tho. Nick Heyward deserved more of a career after haircut 100

Kite is an amazing piece of pop music, arguably Nick Heyward's greatest song. It should have really been a hit! I think coming out in 1993/1994 was always going to set this song back, the current scene was all rather dark and grunge. If it was released, say, in the early 2000s, you had Belle and Sebastian making the top 20 in the UK, this song would have fitted quite snuggly in the twee indie thing and probably got a lot more air play.

I don't think so as he was already in Lush by this point, so would be busy with them. Also his hair & onstage manner are different to this chap. :-)

He was better with Haircut 100. Solo, his songs are weak and lacking. But he's had a very successful solo career so they liked what he was doing.
@jacquesmesrine80313 жыл бұрын
I cant believe you say that this song is "weak and lacking"... this song is an actual 90s anthem for SO many people. You're probably a member of Haircut 100 lol
