the oil is most likely used for sensing when people are seated and the "motor" is just a pressure reader (because its way too tiny to be a motor strong enough to do anything) it being the cooling is also not probable since it had only one tube, therefore no flow of the liquid

That “motor” is actually a sensor that reads the pressure of the oil. When a person sits in the seat the pressure on the bladder compresses the oil so the system knows when there is someone in the seat for seatbelt warnings as well as passenger airbag on and off.

It's called an OCS mat. Or Occupancy Seat Sensor (OSS), it tells the car car how much the person weighs by moving liquid to a sensor, the car then adjusts safety settings.

That goo that was in the tube is what pressurizes and depressurizes the seat so you can adjust if you want it to come forward or the seat to lean back. It could also be used to transfer the heat coming from the coils.

The gel is for the cooling seat! Whenever you turn the cooled seat on the motor turns on and pumps the gel through the seat to cool it! The motor may seem small but it has a very easy job. The gel acts like one of those ice packs you get in first aid kits. Whenever there is heat and pressure it starts to become cold. Your but is the heat and the pressure!

Wow didn’t realize there was so much tech inside of an car seat! Also that liquid in the car seat might be, if you have an control in the settings for adjusting height or softness of the seat it might control that.

The softness part might be the answer. I know with the Model 3 the seat warmers are an option you can literally download to upgrade. I wonder if this is just some unused option that was built in.

You must not have experienced a lot of seats then...or you've only been driven American cars in your life. The seats really aren't comfortable at all. As a matter of fact, I would say they are the worst part about my M3. But I was already prepared, that when I buy an American car I get very 'couch' like seats with little side support. And thats what I got.

That gel bladder is the sensor for the seat belts... Like you know when you sit your butt down on the seat the car know is? Yeah.. if you sit on the seat the oil builds pressure and at the end that black 'box' is the pressure sensor telling the car someone is sitting there

My 2010 Prius had a sensor switch underneath for seat pressure. It got wet and fried. the seat would have had to be taken apart to fix it. The bladder is a better idea.

The funny looking gel could be a liquid cooler to make sure when you're using the heated seat the heater doesn't get too hot and set on fire inside the seat, so it could be to keep the internals of the seat heaters cool when in use maybe 🤔

That oily thing looks like a part of passenger presence sensor. Whenever the person sits on the the pressure is exerted on the liquid & via pipe it goes to pressure sensor.
