it's the perfect fallow up for the x-men intro to the MCU, too bad that won't fly because of business reasons, too many to list. Best cinematography I've ever seen in any series, with a close second being FRINGE in my opinion. I always had this vision of David saving the universe at the end of the future x-men arch or the MCU main story in phase 5.
@gafanhotogamer59934 жыл бұрын
David kept being betrayed and pushed to his limits. Particularly in Season 2 by Syd. Future Syd tells him to help Farouk and doesn't warn him about his sister. Present Syd shoots him when he is vulnerable. Everyone else takes it with absolute certainty that he will destroy the world to the point of allying themselves with an old liar that ruined David's life and they take his word without questioning. They act as if they were perfect and the problem was David, and David only. At the same moment, they are David's only friends, and they dogpile on him at the same time as they ally themselves with Farouk. He was completely cuckoo by season 3, but he didn't get there alone.
@abandonedmuse3 жыл бұрын
I agree. I was always on David's side. They just didnt understand him. He was a flawed character because of his circumstances. Plus, in the end he always wanted to fix things. He never wanted to hurt anyone for fun or sport. It was always to protect himself or others. His intentions were always in the right place. He was just misunderstood.
@chrissuponcic51813 жыл бұрын
I agree season 3 was really a heart breaker for me. David did everything not to save the world but to save Sydney and their love. Then she let's herself be influenced by Melanie and farouk. They show her real events but disguise the context behind those events. So in a matter of an hour syd no longer loves David and tries to kill him before she ever really talks to david. Then she turns all of his friends against him and leaves him with the choice off going back to the mental house or to die. David still loved Sydney even when he found out that she sent an innocent man to jail for underage rape! They felt David needs to die because in one of the millions of time lines he kills most of the human but farouk gets to live even though he's been killing, manipulating and bringing only suffering to mankind for 2000 years

Even with Farouk out of his head David's sense of right and wrong are still skewed from the experience. During season 2 there was a narration that covered being taught the wrong thing (this is red, red means stop. This is green, green means but go with the colors switched). That's how I think of David in this series, even without Farouk physically in his head he's still being influenced by his "teachings"
@WhattheGeek5 жыл бұрын
Well he had the right people around him though beyond that point to be able to define right from wrong, but he insisted on making the wrong choices, don't you think?
@TheLeagueoffailure4 жыл бұрын
@@WhattheGeek I disagree. He made the wrong choices because of revenge. He feels as if his whole life, his existence is violated, because of someone and he is in the right for blaming Farouk for that. All the terror that Farouk has done to him. Sure, at the end of the day he is the one who does it but it is really unfair to say that those actions are not heavily influenced by Farouk. And even his "teammates" betrayed him at the end of season 2, thus launching the prophecy. Self fulfilling prophecy I'd say. Too bad none of them was smart enough to see it. Not justifying anything he has done, but to blame him directly is just wrong

I didn't particularly love the ending to be honest. There was no real catharsis. Everyone basically forgave everyone, the timeline changed in an unknown way and the story just stopped. Only Switch got a satisfactory ending. On the other hand I realize it was the only "surprise" ending they could have done. The alternatives I can think of are the following: 1) To go the Endgame route and kill both future and past Shadow king. That would obviously be too similar to the movies. 2) To accidentally cause the past Shadow King to possess baby David, effectively creating the timeline he was trying to avert, 3) To go the comic book route and actually kill baby David. That would be too similar to the movie the Butterfly Effect and was not set up anywhere in the series. Unless it was something that followed scenario 2, in which case they would have needed one more episode, 4) To go the Age of Apocalypse route and kill young Charles. But that could have only worked if they were planning on making a spin-off or continuing the series, That's the possible scenarios I can think but none of them would have really worked. Maybe we got the best possible ending but it was a bit underwhelming
