Patience is lovely, her giggle is contagious and her joy as she found the money was wonderful to see. You should have known Jeremy George and Patience are not to be underestimated bless them. Along with the young man (sorry sweetheart your name escapes me) they are a winning team lol. I remember my Mum using one of the heavy electric irons and before that one she put on a heavy metal plate on the fire. My parents were very poor in the early 50's but they were hardworking and loving and you can't beat that bless them. I love the red dish the Christmas baubles were in, I should imagine that will bring a good price Jeremy. All in all a wonderful video which I so enjoyed watching. The grabber is for changing light bulbs. The ceramic set was a Cream(milk) & Sugar set, lids missing. The little blue spaceman was highly collectible McDonnalds giveaway from '69 Moon Landing. The Match Holder was for wood matches. A full box was the size of the holder. You slid the cover off of the box of matches and slid it into the holder. For the days of wood burning stoves and before automatic pilot lights on gas stoves. Most certainly antique.

5:26 it is not a display for matches. You hang it on the wall near your gas stove. Then you fill it with wooden matches from the paper / cardboard box. Then you remove the striking part of the box and tape it to the side of the metal match dispenser. Then when you need to light the gas stove, your matches are ready to go, and they don’t get lost.

Yes, the United States was a beautiful luxury liner. I got to visit friends when they took it on a cruise from NY years ago. A patient I took care of, Admiral Manning, held the trans Atlantic speed record as Captain of that ship. Patience is a doll and Christian a sweetheart. Nice to see such great kids!

That's a match holder. It would have hung near the stove so that your matches were always available to light the fire, and later in time, the gas stove. Patience is precious. I just loved her reaction to the old tape measure. I grew up with those and still have one. She has no clue about most of the stuff she is undoing and it is so delightful to watch her. I hope you shared some of that money with them.

Our uncle a war veteran passed at 98 yrs of age he grew up in a era where he didn't believe in banks 😂 all the money we found all $23 k help give him a grand send off funeral & memorial headstone . 👍

The green match holder is vintage. People had them in their kitchens on the wall by the stove the gas stove. You would put a big box of diamond Brand matches in it hoping it up in the matches would roll out into the little tray and then you could pick one at a time out to light your stove. This would be in the 19 20s 30s and 40s. Electric stoves got popular in the forties and fifties. It is not a store display it is a kitchen necessity. Thanks 73 year old Sherrill in Alabama.

The match box tin was a nifty invention where as you would slide an open box of wooden matches into the top of the tin and then you could pull out one or two to use. We had ours hung on the wall so we could just grab a few when we went outside to burn the paper garbage in the burn barrel. VERY HANDY and we knew when they were running out so we could replace the box!

5:22 That is not a store display for matches. You mount it on the wall by an old gas or wood stove and put a box of large wooden matches into it, letting the matches be dispensed to the little bottom shelf for easy reach. Since you could strike the match on the outside of the wood stove (or burner on a cook stove), you didn't need access to the strike strip on the side of the match box As a kid I lived in an 1810 house mostly heated with wood stoves and we had one by each stove.

When my Italian Godmother's sister died her daughter found over 💰18k💰 in her linen closet. Her sister would hide money while drunk & then accuse her husband & daughter of stealing it. My sister in law and I were talking yesterday about the younger generation just don't care about our old pictures or anything that belongs to the parents..They don't care to go through anything to see if it's important or not...This is what happens when the children don't take time to look through the things of the parents...I don't know if they had children but someone didn't care for sure.

Kelly I'm a home health care aid and I agree with you 110 percent I took care of a woman for 9 yrs... She had expensive taste in her last year's she gave away everything she had to family??? She had me help her give certain things to family, but while I was doing so I noticed that some of the family really didn't want a lot of things... It was her wish to give them everything important in her life and it made me so unhappy to see them throw most of it in the trash!!! This woman saved every picture she took and wanted her grand daughter to have them.... When I gave them to her she was so excited... Mind you her grandfather was in the Navy and a lot of the pictures where of Navy ships and Ports... They look like they should be in a museum and her granddaughter went to throw them all away when she was moving so I asked for them I've had them 6 yrs and still have them and a lot of pictures while I was taking care of her so I know what you mean family lose interest in there roots....
