I'm curious as to why you choose to use "securite" vs. "pan pan"?
@WhatYachtToDo
@WhatYachtToDo 3 жыл бұрын
Sent you an email, but briefly, MAYDAY - Immediate Danger: PAN PAN - Urgent Situation; SECURITE - potential navigational hazard.

Nice job docking both of you. How do you choose bow in or stern in?

Marinas will dictate sometimes. If not, you can choose. Then take depth, location of power, and view into account.

Great info on passing through the Rock Pile...I had seen that as a problem area in my reading and wanted to see how someone actually navigated it...

My daughter and her family like Myrtle beach and spend a lot of their vacation time down there. Both her children are AFROTC one senior at USC Columbia and one freshman at Clemson. I hope you had a great time there and had lots of yummy food and drink as well. I thought your bow in docking went very well and safe.

Very nice video. We live just North of Myrtle Beach (OIB) and know the water you traveled well. Good idea to call the swing bridge for traffic before entering the Rock Pile area. Like your idea of using NavX and Live Captain for routing. I'm going to try that myself.

Interesting video. I love the water but yachts are not in my retirement check! We do the land yacht with a 37ft fifth wheel. Could you tell me where the RV park you passed early in the video was? Hope you’re hunkered down for the tropical storm headed our way.

I really appreciate you showing more docking. Love it and it makes it so fun to watch you both communicating. Keep showing some of the docking from Rev’s perspective. We bought the headsets you recommend on your website and absolutely love them. We will be leaving Seabrook Texas hopefully in October weather permitting. We will be heading down to our home in Big Pine Key Florida and then leaving January for the Bahamas. Then in April we will continue the great loop.

Awesome! UFT - Unidentified Tow (no AIS) and the "Rock Pile", you are still having new experiences as you travel along America's Great Loop. Great educational segment on route planning. You and Rev are now are operating like a well oiled machine!! The docking segment demonstrates this very well.

Other than burning very expensive diesel fuel and going nowhere at speed, what is the purpose of these trips?
@WhatYachtToDo
@WhatYachtToDo 4 жыл бұрын
Going nowhere? We have seen parts of Canada and the US that we have never seen before. We are on the Great Loop - a 6,000 mile journey around the eastern part of the US and southern Canada. We only have about 20 more miles left. You can see a map of our route on our website at WhatYachtToDo.com

Yep it's a Fleming. Once you know them you can spot them a mile away. A good way to identify the Fleming's as it's passing is,they have a Blue and Red/White "F" at the just above the rail at the end of the portuguese bridge, (Midship). Not to mention they are beautiful boats and have a really classy style. There were a couple traveling the loop last year. Golden Daze was one I remember. I'm enjoying your adventure and thanks for all the great info!,

Next video demo we're looking for is exporting Bob's course to Garmin. That would be helpful. I hope you get back to Cutters before the hurricane tracks north. If you need a slip a bit south of the Bay Bridge and on the protected east shore of the Chesapeake, let me know and you can use my slip at Bay Bridge Marina (since my boat is still in Connecticut). It's 50 x 19.
