How are you gonna give it a B or B- when you still have yet to fully understand the workflow as you stated you need to wrap your yet to wrap your mind around it? Me being an owner of the Montage and an ex owner of the Kronos, I would say the Kronos has too many pages you have to dig down into and can be more complex. But as far as the Montage it can get deep as far as programming the knobs and controls linked to the super knob.

Excellent review! I'm a Yamaha man for life (4 Yamaha boards currently, including S90es), but I do agree with a lot of the pros/cons of this baby. And yes, I also spent quite a bit of time trying to find the Patch button!

Thank you for the review! Can you help with your opinion? I believe the 88 keys from the Montage are the same from the XF. I have an Roland RD800 and the weight keys are amazing! Do you think the XF 88 or Montage 88 keys will be a good enough replacement for the the RD800? Keeping both is not ideal for me because I already have another synth and not too much free space. Thankyou again!

i sold my XF and bought a apple computer and started using MainStage and i believe its one of the best things i could have done. i don't regret it one bit, with plugins like Omnisphere, Komplete, Ivory ect. i don't think you need anything else. its cheaper and you get 10x more sounds.

christopher batista i agree with you. Specially if u will use it only in a studio. But for a live performer, its hard to love plug-ins softwares.. because as a musician u need a personal instrument, like sax players or guitar players. in my own opinion, a keyboard player should also have a keyboard to own and to love and show some affection and connection to the instrument.

was looking for a review on the montage 7/6 keybed action for playing piano parts, from a proffesional pianist. i saw your review on youtube, and was hoping you could help answer some questions for me. basically, hows the action on the 7? when i gig, i often need to play a solo song, wher ei really want to be able to play emotionally. however, ive found that difficult on synth keys. ive never had a semi wegihted keyboard though (only synth, or hammer action). so my quesiton is, can you really get all that piano articulation on the montage 7 keyboard, close to what you could on a weighted keyboard? i know it obviously wont feel the same for a pianist, and it would need some technique changing, but for the overall effect, is it possible to play emotional moving piano pieces, and to trigger all those lucious layers of piano velocity, on the montage 7 ? how many velocity layers of the montage piano can you trigger, from the keyboard? like super soft/soft/medium/medium loud/loud/banging? or less amounts of levels? or more? thanks!

Thanks, and you guys been helpful as far as programming keyboards I've watched the Gospel Guy playlist on your channel and it really opened my ears alot as far as programming keyboards.... Randy you're the coldest cat i know that can ever bring a lifeless keyboard to life thank you so much!!!

Can the Montage record audio tracks like vocals like the Kronos can? Is there an input for a mic on the Montage like on the Kronos?
@radurobert15 жыл бұрын
Motif ES was released in 2003 having 1GB of user memory . Montage is released in 2018 having only 2GB of user memory over ES. Strange right ? . With a 100$ cheap personal computer you can have 16 GB of memory if you want . But with this 4000$ synth you can't put more user memory space even if you want that . I think Yamaha are afraid to put more user memory because in such case they won't sell future products . That's why they expand only the factory library space of new products and the user memory remains limited to 1gb since Motif ES that was released in 2003 . What a tricky conspiracy to rip our money . 16 years have passed and they don't want the user to have more memory So they avoid putting 2 ram slots (user option if he want to buy 32gb of ram or flash or not over the 1gb of factory flash) and instead they promote their new products saying that the factory sample memory was expanded from 700mb to 5 GB...etc etc . So they always maintain user memory as low as possible because they promote their new products using the factory sample memory size as marketing tactic . This way some users will buy the new flagships because they are tired of the factory sounds and only 1gb of flash user memory is a joke ...marketing tactics folks . Is not practical to load erase and reload sound banks by staying limited in 1gb....I have 50 Motif XS sound banks . But I can load only 3 or 4 and if I want to load a new one I need to erase the ones that are stored so you can have 100 banks but will be a pain to load reload for different projects .. Now I use a PC and I can have as much memory I need ...

I'm soooo happyyyy to see this review! I'm truly grateful for this! I can't wait to see the next video of the Montage in deep! I hope that he finish the review so he can talk about Kronos 2 vs. Montage. I like both! I love the Kronos 2 because I play with it in my home recording studio. Personally, I love the FM Electric Pianos of the Montage, because sounds quite the same as the Robbie Buchanan sounds. But I'm afraid that the Acoustic Pianos sounds poor in compare with the Kronos. Obviously, Kronos has Modeling Technology. That's better than sampling waves. I'm very technical guy, so I love when you guys talk about it. I use to create new sounds and also, repair keyboards, install updates, perform backup to the complete memory, and install additional memories and perform some modifications to upgrade it. So I'll be waiting for your next video of Montage! Love you masters and God Bless You!!!!

Yea, i have the same feeling. I have kronos, play 10 month... It's powerful but when i try to play with band, something is missing... Sonically i also prefer more yamaha motif xf, then montage, or kronos... It's strange....
@KucharczykKamil7 жыл бұрын
BTW.: I confirm, the screen touch in montage, is too so slow(lag).
@TheTruthAdamsShow17 жыл бұрын
I completely disagree with that.... I found that gospel players that are genre specific make comments that are too one dimensional sonically. To say that the Kronos is "too clean" for church, is a bit corny.... I think cats need to really aim for their own sound instead of a dogmatic, antiquated, concept of church should sound like.
@Leo_prado7 жыл бұрын
You have to disable "animation" and "motion blur" in the settings. no idea why it doesn't come disabled from the factory. anyways, doing that, its the fastest touch screen that ever was on a synth. trust me.

unless you play live, these kind of products are dead ducks. Computer software is way ahead, and much cheaper and more versatile. The Kronos is just a cheap out of date computer running custom software.
