Sebastian, You are such a good host. Your interview style is just perfect in that your comments are informative, yet you allow your guest to do most of the talking. Probably I might get a little lost if I were only listening to the guest, but you ask or always comment at just the right time as though you are the student. It is obvious that your knowledge and skill level are in many cases as high as your guest but you always let them shine. Your interview style really makes it easy to follow the clinician. You literally ask the same things I would ask if I were sitting there too. Thank you so much for sharing. I live in the south but have grown children that live in New York. If I'm ever up there visiting I will try and look you up. Thank you so much brother and blessings to you for what you do and provide. BTW you and Randy need to hit up Korg because I was on the fence between the Yamaha Montage and the Korg Kronos. You guys just sold me the Kronos. Getting it this February. Thanks again.

Yamaha Motif guys always find the Korg workstations hard to use, and vice versa. It's not hard to use; the workflow is just completely different from Yamaha. It's just a matter of getting used to the interface. The Kronos isn't just a rompler either, of 9 synth engines, two of which are based on sample playback, the rest are physical modelling, analog modelling and FM synthesis. With the HD streaming, you can sample your favorite sounds from other synths and VSTs and play them through the Kronos. It's the ultimate.

I know this is an old video, but first I'd like to thank you guys for creating it. I just bought the Korg Kronos with the wooden side panels three months ago. The only thing I can do without frustration, is load a sound. I got frustrated and have not turned it on since early last month. It took me two weeks to find out how to do that. If one of you could point me to instructions as how to FIND, LOAD, AND RECORD a sound onto a track I would be very grateful unto you. I currently own The New Kronos, and the Motif XF7 white. I've had both since March, but know the Motif like the back of my hand, it was easy to figure out,, but the Korg well please help me if you can. THANKS J. W. Carter

Question! So I'm having trouble deciding on what keyboard to get..... big surprise. It's mainly going to be for live performance as well as a creative writing tool, so I've narrowed it down to the Nord Stage 2 and the Korg Kronos. After doing a bunch of research, I suppose the only question I have left is, will the Korg work as well as the Nord in a live setting? I see guys like Cory Henry using the Kronos, along with a bunch of other major musicians right now, but like all artists that endorse certain products, they're paid to do it and their opinion can only mean so much. Appreciate the time to whoever replies to this post. Cheers!

hey, you two rock major hard...thanks for the excellent videos you put up! ok, i have just shelled out the money of the Motif XF6 over the Kronos. Little background: first keyboard-Korg 01/Wfd (sold it), Kurzweil K2500s (still have it). back in 2005 (or something like that) i went snooping around looking for my next workstation and was intent on the Korg Triton...I didn't even think of the Roland because their workstations have never struck a chord (or is that cord) with me...then i started clowning around with the Motif ES6. what struck me was the immediacy of pattern/song building, the live performance aspect of the thing, and the Mega Voices (their marketing favor of the day). i walked out that day with a Motif ES6 with that AMAZING mLAN card and a bunch of sample ram. Many, many years of productivity set on maximum drive. in 2008 i sold it for my first Macbook Pro...and i have regretted it ever since...dude, something to the tune of like almost every day regretting it.

For those who don't want to wait for the video, there are two versions that Jamall has for that MKSensation, Ver1 and Ver2.Version one is actually pretty easy all you need is the chicken system translator 6 does all the work for you and once you've converted it basically all you have to do is put it in a USB and then you have to copy it to the SSD on the Kronos and then once you do that it'll load just like any other PCG file

Brian, thanks for the reply. I was able to follow him all the way thru and have the nice pad and adjusted the release. I am editing various piano and el. pianos but can't quite get the right combo. @corpeningd10 жыл бұрын
I must agree with the GospelGuy: The Kronos is simply the best sounding 'all-in-one' synth available by far. Randy called it a 'rompler' but it is much more because of its modeling engines (EP & Analog). Randy gave it one knock because of its complexity. Some functions could be simpler BUT because of the deepness of the board, there is a trade off. I've had Kurz, Roland, Yama (Motif) boards: The Kronos aces them all by far. And still no Motif answer after several yrs?!? Oh well, the Kronos will be the last bd that I will have to buy for many years. A PC with plugins is the only growth path from here. Try this with any other bd: (all sounds from the Kronos) Korg Kronos Demo - Extreme Sound - Fernando Draganici

point is: I can drive soft synths with the Motif XF snappy sequencer, mute on the fly 16 parts without having to switch between 1-8/9-16 mute button bs...the Motif coupled with Logic or Live or Mainstage is a force to be reckoned with in a spontaneous, performance situation. then ya sprinkle on the K2500 and that new Electribe...smokin' yeah, Kronos v. Motif will be an argument for all time and it does come down to individual points of reference...but for me, while the Kronos is undeniably a monster, the Motif wins my heart (and money) with its physical button functionality, less reliance on menu diving, less squinting on touch screens and seeing around a finger or stylus...blowing 16 channels of audio through FW is something to behold (especially if you have a secondary computer doing multi-tracking duties...i do)...i can load samples into the Motif and get the stuff i need...Live runs rings around anything for sample manipulation galore (the K2500s would drop you in your tracks too)
@mushasho10 жыл бұрын
not too long ago we spoke about "synth engines" and how each hardware had it's own characteristic... today seem like we're using the Kronos as ROM-pler... even mentioned loading up Omnisphere & the "infamous" MKS into the board!!! I predict the GospelGuy going back to a laptop soon... at least the XF review dug into the internal factory sounds and not stuff brought in from other sources... no talk on how the action compares to XF or how it integrates with a DAW... I'd wanna see part 2 of the KRONOS once he gets his "geek" on with it...

fast forward to now: after watching tons of youtube reviews between the Kronos and the Motif XF i chose the Motif...why? so much dang menu driving either with a finger of with a tiny stylus with the Kronos...i do enough of that finger on touchscreen (with KILLER synths) on one of my many generation iPads. tedious just watching all those videos of the Kronos, to the point of agitation. i NEVER had that problem with the Motif of yesteryear or of today. i can get a performance orientated song (with feeling and heart...not a bunch of techno arps) up and running in zero time. shoot, i have fired up my K2500 after a 6 year haitus and once you physically work with something (menu diving, programming and so forth) it becomes second nature and it seems your body retains all the movements and workflow logic of particular closed hardware environments. sure, the Kronos has big numbers and 9 engines...but i too have Omnisphere 2, Blue 2, Dune 2, Serum, Korg Analog & Digital Collection, NI Komplete

Ver2 is a little more complicated because Jamall actually he put some sort of security block on it so it took a while to get around that. In order for you to use ver2 you're going to have to get around the security. A crack ver of kontakt is the best way to get around that. I will like to be clear with everyone I don't believe in piracy and I own a copy of complete eight which cost me $1000 so I exhausted all my resources before having to go the route of downloading A torrent version of Kontakt. Once you've downloaded the cracked version of Kontakt you have to create a new instrument and basically just copy in the edit section the EP way files into the new instrument and you can put all the settings that is currently being used after that save it and you'll see the wave files separate from the monolith into a separate folder now take that put into the chicken system translator convert it and put it on yours be copied to the SSD and everything else is history

Kronos is an awesome machine. Although, I would have liked to see him go the board in-depth like he did with the XF. i generally am not sold by specs and use my ears as the deciding factor. I personally use a Nord Stage 2 and Motif XF6 and feel that those two work really well together to cover many genres of music. FWIW - I think the Nord Stage 2 has by FAR the best pianos and EPs (also has a great user community that shares sounds). It also sounds and feels more like an organic instrument.

Having both the Kronos 2, and the Motif XF, sound wise, BOTH can be tweaked to your liking. Out the box, some sounds of the Kronos is better than the Motif XF, and vice versa. WORKFLOW, FROM START TO FINISH: The Motif XF wins hands down. I'm totally new to keyboards, started creating jams with them back in 2005. On the Kronos 2, you have to go through a stupid setup process, through different pages and menus just to record ONE TRACK into the sequencer. On the Motif XF, you push the button for the track, then hit record, wow, that's a wtf moment if I ever experienced one. I sware, the Korg Kronos 2 has KILLER PIANOS, AND GUITAR SOUNDS, but to get them on a track, within the board, kills the creative moment of inspiration. I mean, it has gotten so bad, that I've only turn this board on seven times since June of last year when I bought it. The ONLY way I see myself using it in a recording, is to simply record the audio into a daw, just wow. I've even thought about taking a 500-700 dollar loss and selling this thing. 3100+ dollars down the drain, because it's so darn complicated and confusing to simply record a drum beat on track one, that has fill in parts. That's how I start my creation, with a drum beat, this is too complicated. I found the Motif XF's workflow speedy and simple. Heck, sound wise, you can tweak either board, but workflow wise, Korg blew it. In the past ten years or so, I still find that KORG BLEW IT. People just want to jam, not create the instruments, they want to record the instruments fastly. WHO WANTS TO BUY THIS KORG KRONOS 2? Heck this is a long rant lol.
