​@@snowfreezer2863 the song in domestic (SK) market is sell quite well, because they are more famous domestically rather on global market. RBW is not too much focusing on international market at that time, especially when her solo debut before Mamamoo entering (and win) tVN QUEENDOM. After they winning the show, that when RBW slightly tryin more capturing international market, but they still focusing Mamamoo on domestic market. That's why her debut is not that much noticed by global audience, but as I know by my friend in SK, this debut solo is relatively successful in there as the song often playing in stores & radios around her debut. That's why Wheein basically more well known domestically, compared to Hwasa which much more had global appeal and also had more virality value compared to Wheein, that's why many Wheein songs is also not that perform as good Hwasa (also on business eyes, Hwasa is definitely more selling than Wheein). But since she join L1ve, her discography is much more focused on OST many dramas, as her voice more fitted with many K-dramas themes. Also Wheein is more focusing on her artistic side, which translated well in many OST style songs. And she is more prefer quieter live too, based on Mamamoo Guide, as she is most introvert one in the group.

Hwasa's Twit swept charts in South Korea and got real time all kill (first place on EVERY SINGLE chart) plus 2 victories on music shows, it has entered the Top 100 of U.S. iTunes Top Songs chart to currently become the top-selling Kpop song in America plus got amazing results WORLDWIDE too landing on 22nd place in iTunes chart...I'm not talking about the kpop chart but the overall chart! And yes, Hwasa wrote this song about an ex lover of her. This MV and lyrics are packed with a lot of interesting references and symbolisms. In the lyrics she uses "delicate Shim Cheongie" ...referring to an old korean tale. Shim Cheong (a filial daughter) was sold as a virginal sacrificial offering to the sea, in this way her blind father could make the temple donation needed to miraculously restore his sight. With the help of the Dragon King of the sea, she returned to the land and eventually became a queen. So Shim Chung is sacrificing yourself for the benefits or happiness of others, it means a great love without boundary. There aren't that many songs with this concept, telling him/her you should live for yourself don't breath only for me...usually it's the other way round, "give me more attention, give me more love". Mamamoo are famous for writing songs with interesting concept, empowering, respect, love yourself and so on. In the beginning of the mv she's reading 'Animal Farm' by George Orwell which is all about the constraints of society and following the rules…she tosses it aside. Her wrapped up in the plastic bag, coming out of a wardrobe crying, walking and dancing with confidence on a table and no one is paying attention to her while when she has a lighter skin tone and cuter hairstyle boys are at her feet...all is a clear reference to how women are treated in korean society. The girl embracing Hwasa is Wheein, another Mamamoo member and her best friend since middle school. Her cameo is interesting too...if you consider the lyrics of this song and Wheein solo 'Easy' it's like watching the opposite sides of the same coin. Plus Wheein is Hwasa source of strenght and comfort, you can see her leaning on Wheein and Wheein embracing Hwasa. Their makeup is natural and they're almost nacked because they can be themselves with each other. In the all black scene where you can see her and the legs of a man; it's like she abused of his love so much that in the end killed that feeling and when she understood what she did to him she tried to take the boy back but in the end he leaves her. Many people pointed out those blatantly fake birds...I mean, they could use CG like the leopard in Egotistic MV but I think they did it on purpose. A bare tree with fake/dead birds. Everything is white, birds, dress and background, so lonely. In Korea and the Middle East it is the norm that white symbolizes time of mourning and funerals. It is an interesting predicament that theorists find white relays the message of clarity. It could be thought that once someone has passed away there may be clarity in the peoples’ lives, or lack there of. And right after compare the black scene...so going back to the theory of the mourning and understanding (clarity) what she lost. the scene where she's dancing and partying with so many people while he's there, he stays still on that bed. They look at each other so she nows he's lonely and sad there but she's smiling at him while dancing, like a spite to hurt him once again. In the end the flower on the ground represents the beautiful relationship she had, the beautiful love he gave to her. When he decides to leave her, the guy tosses that flower on the ground and she tramples on it like she did with his feelings. about the "Simcheong" thing in Twit (this is taken from Genius): The Korean word for twit, “멍청이” (Meongchoeng-i), rhymes with “심청이” (Shim Cheong-i). Hwasa draws similarity to the condition that her lover suffers from that of Shim Cheong, a folk tale character in Korea, seen as a role model for selflessness as well as a cautionary tale to not go overboard in a relationship. In the folk tale, Shim Cheong honors her blind father’s deal with a monk for sight in return for a large amount of rice by selling herself to the sailors as an offering for the Sea King. But Shim Cheong’s father was still blind despite the deal.

@@moo5289 The painfully shy part of her seriously put a damper on these songs. I really hope she gets better soon. I was also painfully shy for a long time so I really do understand where she is coming from (although I still don't get how such an intelligent person as Wheein didn't realize that becoming an Idol would mean that she would be in the public eye A LOT...). I got a little better over time. I am still not the greatest as a public speaker but when something really matters, I can speak up. It just takes time and some practice, it's like becoming de-sensitized to something that you hate.

@@jamescurfman3284 I get it. surveys have shown that public speaking is one of if not the most common fear. It seems to me that she has gotten much better. She was able to promote both Water Color and Make Me Happy. It does bother me when RBW gets bad mouthed when they were just allowing their artists freedom to do what they want rather than forcing them to do something they are uncomfortable with. When Wheein left RBW, she said it was because she was too comfortable there and wanted to challenge herself. At least that's what I remember hearing I think from the documentary.

I like that Wheein and Hwasa were in each other's solo MVs. The childhood friendship goals, man! That's a friendship that I never had the opportunity to cultivate because we moved around so much. If you think about both songs and MV's, they are polar opposites of each other. One is mostly from 'the lover's' point of view and the other is from 'the jerk's' point of view. The two songs are the yin and the yang; they play off of and compliment each other very nicely. :)

Two songs from Hwasa I haven't heard you mention are LMM from the Maria album and FOMO from Guilty Pleasure. Both have powerful videos. For Wheein, I recomend Anymore. It's a song by Junkey who wrote, composed, produced and played piano for. He picked Wheein to do the vocals and she sang the whole song but is listed as featuring. There is an MV with actors and Wheein and Junkey don't appear. There is a great live performance on Sketchbook but it's not safe for a KZbin reaction and there is a performance video with live vocals but no audience. That song won on a music show and charted #1 without any promotions beyond the Sketchbook appearance. Junkey repaid her by giving her Goodbye. Wheein and Hwasa made a promise to appear in each other's first solo MV's. I'm not sure when that promise was made, but I'm pretty sure it was before the solo debuts were known to happen.

As what Hwasa said in a program called we will channel you, Twit tells about an ex lover of hers who always go out of his way/ sacrifice too much just to be always be there for her ,making her the center of his world and a person who only knows how to give. At time she's still too young and only thought that it's common for boyfriends to treat their girlfriends that way so she didn't treasured it, at the end she realized that she's the Twit for hurting and letting that person go ...... All in all I love it that you can use Wheeins' Easy and Hwasa's Twit as a POV between lovers that are in a toxic relationship or you can just combine it and baaam you have a love story 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂

Go back through the Easy MV when you get a chance and see how many visual puns on common expressions and relationship cliches you can find. I think you missed the point of the fist through the chest scene - after it flies through him the camera shifts so we see Wheein looking through the hole, a literal depiction of "I see right through you." Seeing is a metaphor for knowing and loving in the MV, hence in the bit where she holds out glasses to improve his vision she's actually asking him to know her better. He doesn't see her for who she really is and takes her for granted because he's shortsighted and makes no effort. On Wheein's side of the vision metaphor the MV shows her Sherlockian "private eye" investigation of their relationship where she "looks under the surface of things" (looks under the table) and concludes "we're headed in opposite directions" (Wheein & Sik-K back to back) and that "there's a wall between us" (during his rap verse). At the end she uses her handy dandy Maxwell Smart shower phone to check in with headquarters and announce the completion of her mission then she slides down into the tub, where she's basically hiding in plain sight, just as she was in the relationship. Easy is one of my favorite Wheein songs but unfortunately it wasn't promoted so it was overlooked by kpop fans. It's #2 on my list of most neglected songs by female artists in 2018 - there were a bunch that year.

i've said this on twt and a lot of people seem to agree but Easy is so much ahead of its time. It was released back in 2018 with it's lofi-ish elements that is getting popular only in recent years. Notice how most kpop releases tend to shift nowadays to this genre of easy listening songs. Can't help but think that if only Easy was released this year, it'll probably blow up. Even the choregraphy. Oh god we have to talk about this! The choreographer of easy is Leejung Lee (YGX, Street woman fighter/lisa, itzy, twice, idle's choreographer) and Easy was her VERY FIRST KPOP project before she became the superstar that she is right now. Street Woman Fighter got famous only last year but 4 yrs ago, wheein was the first artist who knock on a hiphip dance crew's door and introduced the world of kpop to Leejung and yoonyoung (water color choregrapher, who is also in this mv 3:32 ).

I recommand you one of the hidden gem of Hwasa (I'm not sure if you already reacting to it so let's go) Be calm it's a tribute to her uncle and it's actually one of my top comfort song. It has a really comfy chill MV, a wonderfull song about how losing someone make you numb but finally you will overcome it. I love this song so much. LMM and FOMO are a good one too mostly LMM MV and lyrics who are one of the best thing Hwasa ever did (and in my mouth it's mean a lot XD) Thank you for the video I really appreciate it 😍
