FINALLY! Exactly what I needed. It's my second desgner mouse already with a similar issue!
@centrulgreenmogo48445 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much for the video. It encouraged me to take my same mouse apart and to discover that in my case it was not the axle. The wheel got unglued from the axle, so all I had to do was to glue it back to the axle. Apart from that, everything was similar, including unscrewing the circuit board to be able to put the wheel+axle back into position. I also discovered that all the little magnets that were keeping the battery cover attached to the bottom of the mouse were also loose, so pay attention to all six of them when you unmount the mouse.

Thank you so much for this video, not really what I need, but the disassemble process helps a lot. I was having a problem with my scrolling - there was no friction/haptic feedback when I scroll, and it doesn't work anymore. I followed your instruction to open up my mouse and found out that the hexagon-shaped head on the wheel axle was loose (suspect it was worn/smoothen out by all the scrolling). I attempted to fix it by sticking it back using 'superglue' and now it works!

There is no need to drill. Just heat the tip of the nail on a stove so it can penetrate the plastic axle easily. The new wheel will eventually break because its a bad design. Better to use the nail.

Instead of drilling the easier way is to heat the tip of nail so its hot enough to penetrate plastic. Then push the tip of the nail into the axle and cut the head end to fit. Its much easier and less damage prone than trying to drill into the thin axle. I used that method and its solid.

@8thedx4 жыл бұрын
Other option. Take the part that broke off and is stuck in the wheel on the circuit board. With small drop of super glue, glue the broken part back to the rod. Give it about 20 minutes to dry. Carefully push the fixed wheel back into place. It's a hexagon opening, try to line up the part as much as possible to the opening. Works without having to add anything else, and is likely smoother rotation with the part that has the better fit.

So I ve got the combo keyboard mice designer BT combo and the scroll wheel on the mouse is garbage. Who approved of it should have been forced to use that exclusively for his life. The main offender is the tightness of the scroll wheel. I have forgot about the mouse and stashed it in a drawer for years. Finally decided to take action on it. Basically I unsoldered the metal cover on the scroll wheel sensor (the sensor remained soldered), and there is a small leaf spring underneath which I pulled out a bit in order to reduce the tension but the issue was not fixed. The thing is the metal cover has an orifice where the inner sensor wheel is spinning, The orifice is too tight. I used a round diamond file to open up the gap a bit and after assembly it loosened up nicely. The metal tab is stainless so normal needle file wont take it but if you have no diamond needle file you could use 200ish grit black emery paper (for metal not wood) rolled in a tight roll , using a small piece of paper of course. If anyone is going to attempt this mod, be advised, excersize extrreme care while removing solder with a wick and a hot iron. Pcb traces are tiny and easily damaged. Ask me how I know that. Had to solder one tiny wire to fix the sensor back because I unknowingly messed it up. The scroll wheel is much better now.
