I started watching this channel when I needed to understand how a power steering gear box worked and how to pull one apart and how to put it back together , that's how long I've been watching , his authenticity and patience is key to working on these rigs, no fancy this or fancy that although that's cool every now and again, he's not distracting you with that while trying to focus on the purpose of the video, anyone else think new bumper for the wrecker in black to match the wheels would nice? I do! Along with a new front clip and on its way to fresh red paint !! Just my opinion, the wrecker is a work horse it proves that every time , heartbeat of America👍💯.

Just unsolicited advice: Keep track of maintenance and repairs in a spreadsheet so that you know what is fixed and when. Once you have a year or two of data, you can look back to see where the biggest problems are and come up with a plan to change or improve it so that it no longer becomes a problem. Annual notifications of specific repairs or maintenance can be slotted in with a few things each month or quarter to reduce costs and severity of repairs.
@CallMeAdam20232 ай бұрын
You have a good idea, I am a little old school. I have a folder for every vehicle I own and keep every receipt for parts or repairs in it. But, in Erics case, a spreadsheet or even Word document would be best.

Im guessing it`s alittle hard with off road vehicles as the terrain changes so much, it isnt the same car/weight/road/miles as a normal vehicle service, or PPM`s, but still nice to have history.

I think the important thing is that we do the maintenance, I know a lot of people who's wheels are going to fall off! I was next to a older liberty that's wheel was completely wobbly, scary! Gotta take care of your vehicle, especially if it takes care of you, or you'll find out the consequences, really fast! And it's important to have a cute little doggie with you at all times! 😅

If you have the space for a longer wheel stud for each hub makes it much easier to get heavy wheels and tires on. Get it on the long one and turn till others line up. And if it's long enough to start a nut even better.

Eric, you could do a logbook, either manual or digital. Just date, miles and what was done. Then you'll start to see patterns emerge and you'll know what needs looking at more often. Yes mud is a destroyer of parts.

Maintenance is a pain but better than replacing parts! In the case of those wheel bearings, I'm not sure it's any easier. Looks like it takes an equal amount of work either way. But it could save the cost of the new bearings. 😁
@Kickinpony662 ай бұрын
I remember a video where you lost the inner bearing on the passenger side and lost your brakes! When it comes to doing wheel bearings, I like to do them both at the same time, that way I know their both done and not how many months or years are on them. One of the worst things is to drive through water, because the heat from the bearing just pulls the water in around the seal.

Twice a year or running hours? I think that there are differences in summer and winter driving. In the summer i see an event almost every weekend. In winter once a month. Hard to choose your intervals when this is how the wrecker is running. Is it possible that the races are to tight in? If i see how much force you apply to get it out i wonder if it deforms and gets to less clearence.

Yah I noticed that I had to keep doing hub bearings on my ram2500. It doesn’t have a preload even. But somehow when I took it off it was on there on there. I tried it factory way first time. It lasted about 3 months. 2nd time I tried the specs that are online. 170ft lbs. mind you the Dana 60 I got doesn’t have preload. Or atleast shouldn’t. But I listen to online and got it up to 170 , 172. Lasted a month. It’s the quality of parts. Especially since biden shutdown all the bridges that were never built before parts are up in price…
