Great video. I am a 65 year old women and even before videos I did my own minor mechanical work change oil, spark plugs, etc. Over the years things change so videos really help. Thanks for a great video. I loved the helium voice lol

Good morning Maggie, thank you so much for the great feedback and we're really glad we could be helpful. I think that's great that you're able to do so much. it saves money and is also very rewarding when you can fix your own stuff. We invite everyone to share their experience on Google or Yelp for Craig's Car Care so we know how we're doing with the review. Thanks again for the wonderful shout out and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

I believe the flat spot on the bushing is supposed to sit under the grease fitting allowing grease in 😀

I replaced my bushings today. 2 tips - a 3/8" extension worked great for removing the old bushings, And a 1 1/16" socket was great for installing the new bearings. I kept the old (still good) bushings, incase the bearings don't last. The grease zerk is not in the way.

Don't you need to add grease?
@Craigs_car_care Жыл бұрын
Fantastic question!!!!!! I should have mentioned that these are a sealed bearing that already have the greases in the bearing from the maker. So no grease is needed in this set up. Thanks for posting .

I'm not so sure this is an upgrade. I just ordered a spindle/bearing kit for my LA145. Thinking about the bearings though, if they don't last the life of the mower, when they fail they will fail catastrophically whereas the OEM bushing will be subject to "graceful degradation" and not leave me stranded in the middle of the yard with crunchy bearings. When I receive my kit, I'll purchase bushings to replace the bearings.

You make a really great point. So far my bearings have lasted well over a year and the steering feels amazing.

5:52 a trick I learned from another video to remove the plastic cap - if you heat the plastic it will come off much easier. I used a heat gun and was much easier to remove.
@vance72742 жыл бұрын
Great video... Thanks! Heat gun or lady's blow dryer on "HIGH" setting will soften the cap in less than a minute and it will slip right off.

You're welcome and fantastic advice on the heat gun. Thanks for sharing.

Foot long piece of re bar works great to punch out the bushings.

What about the L110 ?? No mention of this but I'm assuming it's also included right ??
@Craigs_car_care3 жыл бұрын
Great question Tony, the "L110" was not on the package. The process is the same but I would order the parts for the L110 just to make sure the correct parts arrive. Thanks for sharing.

Great video Craig!! How are your new bearings holding up?

So far they're doing good and it steers and rolls a whole lot better than it ever did. I'll be getting new tires here in a couple of months.

I bought the same kit for my J.D. as specified. Bearings fit the hub just great, but were way too small to fit over the axle, plus a lot of slop room. Didn't like the results. Returned.
@Craigs_car_care3 жыл бұрын
Hi CSI :) Thanks for letting everyone know to watch out for an axle fit issue. We are still running the same bearing kit in the LA175 in the video, so far so good. Can you share what year and model number yours is so others will know what to watch out for and we can modify the search title to better reflect what ones are interchangeable and what ones are not. Sorry for the hassle this caused you and thanks again for sharing.

@@Craigs_car_care Craig The tractor was bought new in 2012 and is a D100 -the model number shown on the purchase order is BG20540. The sop I referred the to is the bushings prorude out from the hub on both sides some and the bearings, if they'd go over the axle, would have been within the hub and nothing to fill that space where the bushings used to be.And I totally agree with you -J.D. used to build a quality machine. Maybe their high end stuff still is, I don't know, but their low end stuff certainly isn't. Bushings instead of bearings, bearings in the mowing spindles are sealed so you can't lubricate them, drive belt takes a return to the dealer to replace, etc.

@@cantstandidiots5839 Good morning and thanks for the update. I added a note that the bearing kit by its self is not for the D model. I tried to do some R&D on the differences between D and L models but did not find the differences yet. The axle kits with the bearings do show at least by listing they work for both D &L models as if that makes any sense. Thanks again for the update and sorry for the trouble this stuff caused you.

Craig, did you purchase the adjustable tie rods from John Deere or on Amazon? Do you possibly have the part numbers?
@Craigs_car_care2 жыл бұрын
Hi Bill, I got them on the Amazon. This link may take you there and these worked on My LA175 but do the research that it will fit yours please. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07424BYK2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
