@@garycade4755 I'm assuming you're getting water in the floor board. Check the case drain. It's just below the passenger floorboard. You can get at it from underneath the truck. It's really tucked up there so you may have to use brail to get to it. Some models give you more room going through the wheel well. Also make sure the filter is clean.

Mine only makes noise after it reaches operating temperature, if the rocker is bad should it not do it all the time, even at start up?
@Craigs_car_care
@Craigs_car_care 21 күн бұрын
in the beginning stages it starts that way. As it gets worse and more damage is dine it will make the noise all the time. Keep in mind there are other things that can make a similar noise. A low oil level will do this ( the oil coolers leak on these all the time), exhaust leaks can sound exactly like a valvetrain sound. Get it inspected and tested to be sure what is the cause then go from there. Great question and thanks for posting.

What kit do you recommend fit an 07 Silverado 1500 new body style? I've always changed them regularly, but apparently chevy decided to make it difficult for this series and I need the kit. As a woman who is pretty generally familiar with vehicles and raised by an auto enthusiasts DIYer- i've looked at all the recommended locations and I've asked multiple times at varioue shops to help me locate this one and they all seem to be dumbfounded and say, it doesn't have one- I then ask where is everything going that normally is caught in the fikter? I then get looked at like the crazy Karen lady, lol 🤦🏼‍♀️. I just want to clean it out and have normal access to it. I appreciate your videos and everybody's comments. They've been very helpful.

Depending on how long it goes with the bad / failing pump it can make several kinds of noises. It's best to use a mechanic stethoscope to verify where the noise is coming from. If you have the water pump code then after verifying power and ground the pump needs to be replaced.

I have something similar happening to my 04 Suburban. Not as loud. Seems like it start making noise at 20-30. Only when in gear, only when on the gas. I just had the fluid in my rear diff replaced a few months ago. I feel like this noise has always been there but I'm starting to notice it more. I guess it may becoming louder. I'd tried driving with my windows down to get a better idea of where it's coming from but I can't pin point it. I just know it's similar to noise in this video. Damn I wish I had the means to diagnose and fix it in my driveway.

@@williammcgee1524 the fastest way to start is to swap the plug and coil with cylinders that are not missing and see if the miss moves to identify a bad plug or coil. The 'operating temperature' usually isn't the prooblem, it's the hot spots in the engine which run much higher. Coolant without enough pressure can boil even if you have under 200 degrees operating temperature.

You said the lifter was making noise but was it misfiring? I don't see how it couldn't be misfiring.
@Craigs_car_care
@Craigs_car_care 2 ай бұрын
With the lifter collapsed the corresponding valve was not being opened and that caused that cylinder to misfire. If it was an intake valve it would not be able to take in a fresh charge of air and fuel (low compression). If it was an exhaust valve it would not be able expel the charge (high compression) (Great question)
@headpainter1

@@Craigs_car_care okay thanks for the reply. Because I have a pickle. 2008 Buick 3.8 series 3. Missing on number 4 cylinder. Excellent fire. Replace the injectors. Pulled almost new spark plug it had some black Carbon on it and was wet with fuel. Good compression when cranking between 150 to 160 psi. However when it starts running as it did one time when I had the gauge hooked up the pressure drops down to about 20 psi. I kind of found it by accident. All I can think of now is a lifter issue. Is that something that's possible I'm just trying to get it right in my head. I pulled the valve covers today and watch the Rockers and they seem to all be moving about the same lift duration but it's hard to tell. When I put my finger on one rocker on that cylinder I can feel a change different from the other rockers. Almost like it has ever so little play in it. But I know I'm feeling against the spring rebound as it's running.
@Craigs_car_care

@@Craigs_car_care I did number one which showed 140 cylinder 3 showed 143 cranking and then I thought maybe he meant sister cylinders to either side of four. Not quite exactly sure what you're looking for.
@Craigs_car_care
@Craigs_car_care 2 ай бұрын
@@headpainter1 so it sounds like higher compression on the cylinder that's getting flooded. Could be a lifter problem on the exhaust side. you would first need to rule out that it's not over fueling from a bad injector even one that you replaced or a bad driver in the PCM that's holding the injector stuck open. You might pull the rail loose and raise it up and just turn the key on engine off and see if it puddles out fuel out of that injector. You would think with a wet plug it would be more likely to wash a cylinder and be lower compression than the other ones.
