@boxcarmj Mike, It falls in the fusion weld category, like spot welding, with the 5/8" pin taking most of the heat and still getting better than an 1/8" bead, the tickness of the plate, holding down on the warpage. Note there are some casses of non matching materials, that have to have a filler rod added to mix right, most of the time showing crackage as soon as your done with the weld pass... Keith

At 5:36. When the tool backs out it flex towards the chuck. How can that be eliminated as much as possible?

Keith, I had a job where I welded 1/2" - grade 8 bolts to a mild steel housing (MIG) for several schedule 80 by 6" pipe towers. One of the bolts broke about 1/4" above the weld in high wind conditions. I didn't check the hardness of the bolt that broke and I didn't quick cool the weld but my guess was that the bolt hardened. I see you welded 8 grade bolts on this job, did you ever have the same problem I did? Thanks for the help, Rob

No I can machine and blend welds and material next to Gr 8 welded with, Mig or tig using 70 S wire or 7018 stick. I would have to look at your broken bolt and the situation it was used to help you under stand. ;{)-----
