Fun fact: back in the day Sarah starred alongside Matthew Perry on an Aaron Sorkin show that was basically about the backstage life of an SNL type of show. She played their starring cast member who did amazing impressions. All the more reason she would kill an SNL host gig! (P.S. it was called “Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip” and only lasted a season but it was damn good tv.)

Another fun fact, the main reason Studio 60 was cancelled is because it debuted the same year as 30 Rock, another show about the behind-the-scenes of an SNL-type comedy sketch show. Tina Fey, who obviously created and starred in 30 Rock, defended Studio 60 by pointing out that if a network could have both a comedy and a drama set in a hospital at the same time (Scrubs and ER), then why not a drama and comedy about a sketch show at the same time. Next fun fact, Aaron Sorkn actually asked Lorne Michaels if he could spend a week observing SNL, and was refused, and the rumour is because Michaels was rooting for 30 Rock due to his connection with Fey. Final fun fact, years after Studio 60 was cancelled, Aaron Sorkin actually guest starred in a season 5 episode of 30 Rock, where he listed what he was famous for, citing The West Wing and The Social Network. To which Fey's Liz Lemon responds, 'Studio 60?' and Sorkin glares at her.
