FYI ant traps take a while to work. the borox is supposed to kill them very slowly because you want the forager ants to bring it back to their queen and feed it to them, killing the ants at their source. cleaning the surfaces and taping up the outlet probably just slowed down your progress because it made it harder for them to bring the poison back.
