I was in the middle of EDS-4 diagnostic process fourteen years ago when my iliocecal valve dissected. If my adult son hadn’t carried me from the house and driven me one county over to a trauma center I would not have survived. I’d been to the Emergency Department twice in the previous four days but had been told there was nothing wrong. Turned out the genetic testing for Ehlers-Danlos had been negative due to an undiagnosed hemoglobinopathy (hereditary Coproporphyria). A couple years later I was referred to a porphyria expert in Philadelphia and he looked at my medical history and joked, “you should be dead. You’re at least five years past your ‘sell-by’ date.” Best advice he gave me was to load nutrients in every form possible including IV. I already had a central line for the blood product (Panhematin in the US) and I’ve found I do much better with IV B vitamins since I’m missing that part of the gut where they get absorbed. You have to roll with the punches Life gives you. I’m fortunate that my son saved my life. I’m about to turn 64, and most people with EDS-4 die from a hollow organ rupture by 55. To my knowledge, I’m one of the oldest confirmed EDS-4 patients in the world.

I started to cry too thinking about all the animals who can no longer walk or live and whose lives have been destroyed because of human choices. It’s a tragedy 💔Have you been onto the kill floor of a slaughterhouse? If you knew what you are promoting you would hang your heads in shame. Slaughterhouse workers have severe PTSD, animals suffer beyond your comprehension, and you’re paying for it all. “In their behaviour towards animals, all men are Nazis. Human beings see oppression vividly when they’re the victims. Otherwise they victimise blindly and without thought.’ Ghandi said he would rather die than to pay for the murder of animals, and I would too. Where did humans morality and humanity go?

@@Maria-oi3uoIt is sad but some people can't do vegetarian or vegan exclusively. That's like saying why can't tigers just eat plants and not eat meat or a shark, why can't they just eat seaweed? I knew a few people who got severely aneamic and started losing hair from just eating plant foods. Great for you if you can.
@Maria-oi3uo
@Maria-oi3uo Жыл бұрын
@@KSB0707sharks and tigers are obligate carnivores meaning they depend only on meat for survival. They are in a survival situation and will not survive on plants. We are not obligate carnivores, this is why we don’t salivate when we see an animal, we do not want to kill an animal we see, because this is not who we are. This is why the lady in this video said her digestive system shut down, carnivore diets for humans increase the risk of colon cancer and many digestive issues. we shouldn’t be vegan for health reasons though But vegan for the animals, contributing to the violence and abuse happening to them isn’t moral and isn’t justified. I think about what the animals go through. And if people think being vegan would be hard imagine how hard it is for the animals when we aren’t vegan. I understand what you have said about iron deficiency, there are iron supplements, iron infusions, being vegan it is important to keep on top of making sure there are enough nutrients in our diets, and supplementing when necessary to keep levels high. I have a friend who is not vegan who eats animals and she was anaemic and needed an iron infusion. Iron deficiency comes from 3 possible reasons, not enough iron in the diet, not absorbing iron from a digestive issue, or losing too much blood. Iron deficiency is not as simplistic as it is made out to be. I have a ferritin level of around 140 which is excellent and I haven’t had an infusion I eat well and supplement for a week each month with iron supplements now. I do annual blood checks. I have been vegan for 12 years. We don’t need to exploit animals to survive or to have good levels of health. It’s important to know too that 90% of animals globally are now factory farmed, they are in sheds with artificial lights, in cages, unable to turn around and move freely or exhibit their natural behaviours, they do not get the vitamins they need in natural ways of being outdoors, they are supplemented, b12, iron, etc in their feed and by injections. You can watch ‘Dominion Documentary’ it is on KZbin to see the truth of the darkness that is happening to animals in animal agriculture. People see things differently after watching that. These industries have lied so much to people and deliberately disconnected people from the truth so that they continue to pay for this without even thinking about what they are really paying for.

Started this protocol a few months ago, titrating the dosages up until I was taking 600mg benfo and 200mg magnesium bi-glycinate, coupled with a b complex. There was a significant difference in a number of symptoms I was experiencing, less body pain, better breathing, better gut motility and my brain fog disappeared. I was feeling so much better that I thought it would be a good time to introduce some physical activity to the supplement regimen. Within a day of going for a jog all the symptoms started to come back. This leads me to believe that I may have depleted the thiamin level in the body (which must have still been low) when introducing exercise into the equation. I would expect the demand for thiamine increases the more active one becomes. Would love to get your thoughts on this Elliott and also want to say a big thank you for making this information accessible to the public.

First off mad props on turning things around and becoming a mom! I’m so happy for you! This is so encouraging and gives me so much hope! I was diagnosed with POTS in 2019, hEDS in 2022/2023, have had issues with constipation issues my whole life. I tried to address my varying health issues by eating “healthy” and only when hungry which caused me to become extremely underweight, I think because I was eating so much fiber and having slow digestion issues. In my 20’s I was also vegetarian and vegan as well as gluten free. It was in my late 20’s that my health took an intense nose dive. I also found out I have a genetic condition causing periodic paralysis which complicated things for a bit and had two deep vein thromboses in a leg in 2020. So I was told I would definitely be high risk and need to have daily Lovenox injections if I became pregnant. My husband and I have been open to having kids but I just haven’t wanted to put my body through more and to deal with other complications during pregnancy. So we’ve considered adoption. All that to say, I completely relate to not wanting to become pregnant due to health issues. I switched nutrition apps recently which help me see much more clearly where my micronutrient deficiencies are (even no longer being vegetarian, vegan or gluten free). B1 is a biggie for me as well as several others, so I actually just started supplementing some of those today (I’m doing the benfotiamine form of B1). I’m hopeful that the nutritional approach will help. I’m so excited and happy for you and your family, and I hope you continue to do well! Thank you so much for sharing your story!

I am 54 and have given natural child birth to 5 children. I was pregnant with 6 but lost it in a miscarriage. I have hEDS and didn't know it till I was 48 years of age. I had so much pain growing up that I thought I must be dying of some form of cancer. I think I went through puberty, backwards and upside down!😂 The pregnancies were very difficult and I almost lost all of my children through the pregnancy or childbirth. I would not have had any children if I knew what I had. Now 4 of my 5 children have hEDS. I have 4 boys, 1 girl and the one I lost was a girl. My girl has it the worst of the 4, almost as bad as I had it. She is 14 years and 5'9" and it has been so difficult. She has decided not to have any children because she does not want to pass this down to them. Had I known what I had, I would not have had children BUT, BUT, I'm glad I didn't know because they are my heartbeat!! They are the most wonderful thing in the world and they make this world worth every breath I take ❤. One thing I have learned on my journey through life is that a disability with God, becomes an ability to glorify Him! I have been able to get off all the anxiety meds and I'm so thankful for that. I have done lots of unrepairable damage to myself by doing sports and giving birth to 5 kids so I don't know if I will ever be able to completely get off the hydrocodone. My core muscles will never be stable and I'm more clumsy now than when I was a kid. I have some pretty bad falls and I do some big damage to myself.

Identify with all of this. I have EDS type 3 and had gastroparesis and fibromyalgia. Suffered frequent angiodema and what seemed like POTS. If I eat/ate refined carbs all the symptoms go into overdrive. One day I will get round to sharing my story - from bedridden to working for a large charity. Thiamine is the way. Elliot is on the money. His channel was my turning point. The EDS and other congenital issues are still an issue, to some degree, but I have a much better life quality now. Does or did anyone suffer with air hunger or breathing issues? Anyone researched pepsin molecules that have migrated to the esophagus? Also anyone have a swelling of the thyroid isthmus? Sometimes I stray and have dirty carbs and I do notice feeling unwell but I get back on carnivore and it's all good. I see some vegans and vegetarians on this post, being abusive. I totally respect their choice to eliminate some/all animal products and if it works for them - great! Please respect others dietary choice (to reduce or eliminate plants, gluten etc), that works for them. We all have different genotypes etc. Live & let live. Let's celebrate people not being in pain, via whatever route that means for them ❤ Many on carnivore do organic, grass-fed meat, free range eggs (possibly raw dairy) and line caught fish. We do try to eat ethically. Some can't afford that - no judgment, we do what we can. ✌️(A tip though - if you are on low budget and eating carnivore - OMAD is cheap and may allow one high quality meal a day, as opposed to a few lower quality ones). Aldi and Lidl sell more affordable grass-fed meats, including mince (ground beef and lamb). Good luck - whatever you do though, make sure you pair the carnivore diet with thiamine and other supplements. As this video describes, it's not one or the other, especially in the beginning. 🪷 Baby steps! Give it at least 3 months before you judge how it's going - especially if older and overweight (because you're also likely dealing with insulin resistance and/or menopause or similar age influenced issues for men).Weight lifting, walking, yoga (avoid over extension with EDS) and meditation also help. I also have some other huge game changers, but will save for my full story at a future point as it will take a while to impart.

I am a practitioner and I am always looking at different solutions people are utilizing. I, myself have a very restricted diet still due to a lot of damage to my gut microbiome many, many years in a row. I cannot do carnivore because of hydrogen sulfide sibo, but I cannot do salicylates either. I thought fiber was the big cause of so many symptoms for a long time until I started eating carbonaut gluten free bread which is EXTREMELY high in fiber, but it's mostly from psyllium husk and it has done wonders for my body. When it comes to plants, I don't think it is the fiber, I think it's our body not being able to breakdown the plant compunds/chemicals (salicylates, oxlates, histamines, etc) because our liver is overloaded trying to take care of lps, toxins, and so on.

Hi Eliot during my research on high-dose B1, several times Ive came across people stating that B1 acts as carbonic anhydrase inhibitor and in the long run could lead to renal acidosis caused by loss of alkali electrolytes namely phosphate, potassium and bicarbonate. And also the B1 could loose its effectiveness due to this fact. Have you adresses this in any of your vids? Id love to hear you thoughts and experiences. Love your work!

My thought was always to take the B1 to address the chronic deficiency and to eventually wean off as your body naturally restores it. Taking B1 with its required cofactors like Magenisum, potassium, molybdenum(for sulfur intolerance), and other B vitamins in a complex form is essential for results. I currently have severe gastrointestinal issues like constipation, low stomach acid, Sibo(methane dominant), and Candida overgrowth. I've just recently come to discover Elliot's channel. I've had a long history of eating a high carb diet, and multiple rounds of antibiotics(for Tonsillitis and H Pylori) which in turn, wrecked havoc on my gut. I'm come to understand that, I've depleted a ton of B1 and other essential vitamins and minerals my body needs consequently. Thiamine(B1) alongside Pantothenic Acid(B5) and, Choline are the necessary precursors to Acetylcholine the chief neurotransmitter of the parasympathetic nervous system(ie. rest and digest). Without Acetylcholine your body can't secrete stomach acid, create pancreatic enzymes, release bile or, stimulate gut motility/peristalsis. This in turn is what caused my inadequate stomach acid secretion and gut motility. I'm planning on embarking on a gut health protocol. Hopefully, I can rectify my longstanding gut issues.

For me, I've found getting metabolically well is key. Seeking: whole foods, nutrient-dense. Avoiding: SEED OILS, ultra-processed foods, grains, added sugars, high oxalates, ultra high fiber forever. No fermented foods until mast cells are calmed. Easy on phytochemicals until POTS/MCAS/inflammation are calmed. Strength train for life. But build a foundation, including joint stability, before picking up anything heavy.

EDS and Pain are unfortunately are one in the same... To my EDSers, do not beat yourself up mentally or allow doctors to if you can't find away of pain from diet, herbs, exercise etc.. It's an extremely painful condition that deserves humane acknowledgement and treatment by medical professionals. There as been 'a war' against treating pain in the medical field that has Nothing to with the chronic illness community, but it hasn't prevented many misguided or un unethical physicians from reusing to treat legitimate chronic illness pain patients; Refuse their bad treatment! Search for good doctors that will ethically treat you and Listen when you say you're in debilitating pain, you deserve to have a normal as possible life where you can move and get around! I also suffer from the Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (type 3 hypermobile) and I had followed a strict ketogenic carnivore diet for half a year in 2020 in the hope of alleviating my pain and reducing my need for acetaminophen which, I thought (wrongly), was causing the huge elevation of my liver enzymes. After about 2 weeks my pain began to decrease substantially but it only lasted for several months as I started to experience symptoms of severe hypothyroidism, including a hypothyroid myopathy (and an important constipation that was only alleviated by taking high doses of magnesium citrate (and potassium citrate)). My thyroid hormone T3 was way under the normal range during this diet (whereas it was normal before), my T4 was low but just slightly above the lower normal range limit, my TSH was low and I ended up at the ER and I was hospitalized for 2 days. Long story short: my symptoms only responded to liothyronine (T3 supplementation). I recommend to be extremely cautious before considering this diet as there are some contraindications like, for example, being underweight (which was my case before starting the diet), having some medical conditions or some genetic mutations, I would also recommend people to be cautious if you already have Hashimoto's as my antithyroglobulin antibodies that were in the normal range before became very elevated during the ketogenic carnivore diet (more than ever before) and it stayed that way for almost a year. I also suffered from a recurrent itchy rash on my arms and chest every time after having my skin exposed to the sun while I was walking for several minutes on my way home during this diet whereas it had never happened before, I had to take antihistamines to be able to sleep with the rash. My blood bicarbonate was low and my blood urea was elevated, signs of a lower blood PH, which might have leaded me to ketoacedosis. Harmful diet for me, but I still take high dose of thiamin as I don't see any harmful effects.

24:27 just taking notes. Diagnosed with ehlers damlos. So no joint pain but gut problems on carnivore, then with vegetables added, no gut problems but ehlers damlos exaggerated with loose joints. I checked on saladino's page and his diet would still be very vitamin C deficient, which is key for collagen. Then next time going back on carnivore tried the thiamine protocol and didn't have stomach issues. 36:00 low muscle mass can be related to low calcium intake. I'm not sure if you also added vegetables again or just pure carnivore with minerals and vitamins. 41:56 it sounds like you went off carnivore whenever there were no more symptoms 42:18 drank lots of milk (has calcium, magnesium, vitamin d) 43:00 mostly meat, but also regular carbs including fruit (no wheat). Sounds like a pretty well rounded diet at this point 45:15 not taking ttfd or supplements, just in case there are stomach problems again

As a Eds with the exact same issues and history.. the pregnancy was great but the birth was allot more difficult - my son was posterior with shoulder dysplasia- we are also more susceptible to haemorrhaging.. when I gave birth I didn’t have my diagnosis so no one could explain why my birth was the way it was.. allot to do with your connective tissue in the canal.. just be aware and do not 💉💉 your baby or they will end up with the same issues x

Hi Cathy, thank you for sharing your story, sorry you experienced a traumatic birth! I have a pretty good team of doctors i am working with, I think i might be making them work extra hard haha, because they can’t give me really any regular pharmaceutical. I know haemorrhage and prolapse are more common for us and there are contraindications with oxytocic’s and latex allergies that can induce anaphylaxis. I’m working with a haematologist and pelvic floor physio who both deal with lots of EDS patients and they really have put my mind at ease (I had one OB who tried to scare me with everything that could go wrong and was wanting to book me in for an early c section, so requested to never see him again!) Many women find out the have EDS after pregnancy usually because of birthing issues- I would say my mum has it given her birth experiences and my sister also has it too, but neither diagnosed. My main concern is needing the PAO post birth if my hips don’t go back into place, but I’ll cross that bridge when we get there. Oh and hubby and I have already told our doctors no jabs - my first ever anaphylactic reaction was at 6months old to the triple antigen shot so will not be risking putting baby through anything! X

I wonder how magnesium bisglycinate tastes? I suspect the psychosis and heart attack +brain edema, I had 12 years ago is due to thiamine deficiency - I could not speak etc. I suspect the dysphagia today might be related to a thiamine deficiency + I've suffered from temporal lobe edema more or less since november 2018...

Hi, thank you for following :) We actually planned not to have kids as much as we really wanted a family, not so much due to what the child might have but mainly because we did not think my body would either 1. Be able to get pregnant or hold a pregnancy if so and 2. That my body would handle pregnancy well - I anticipated multiple dislocations, cervical incompetence, bleeding, prolapse, preeclampsia, heart issues, premature delivery all the things that someone with EDS may encounter. We did not plan the pregnancy but felt like the universe must have had other plans for us when we found out at 5 weeks - getting rid of it did not feel like an option unless there was something wrong with the embryo or that it would risk my life. The fact we got pregnant so easily felt like fate though. My mother clearly has some form of EDS but not as dramatic as I do (my sister also), and mum gave birth 3 times all naturally and completely unmedicated - I was a particularly tough prganancy for her though, she was also 39. Now having a diagnosis and knowing what the condition is and how to manage it as much as I can I feel less frightened about the birth - I do have an amazing team of private doctors and my pregnancy is probably costing more than others’ would but I’d rather have everything in check for such a big physical event! Also because of this I do not worry too much about our babies as I feel like I would know what to do to manage such a condition - checking for hip dysplasia at birth not giving our child any pharmaceutical that contains excipients, diet being on point through his growing and getting checks with good private doctors. His dad is built the complete opposite to me 😂 very strong so hoping much of his genes get passed on, but at least if he does exhibit anything like I did I would know what’s going on and how we can try to miniseries symptoms and manage it, it took me 31 years for a diagnosis.

No worries! Thank you 😊 I heard people reporting they felt worse before better with TTFD, and wanted to try and avoid that as much as possible so titrating up the dose was fine for me and I had no paradoxical effect. I did try a methylated multi b complex that had way too much niacin and I had horrible flushing from it! So switched to a multi that had a lower dose to avoid that. Good luck with your journey!

I feel diet is so unique, I don’t believe carnivore is a cure all but for me it helped so much and it’s interesting, many with EDS have had the same experience. With MS I’ve heard people who found the Whals protocol beneficial, the Best bet diet (created by the father of Matthew Embry who was diagnosed MS age 18), carnivore has helped some and there’s also GAPS which many people have benefited from. I think it’s very unique not just to the condition but to the individual. MS and EDS have almost similar symptoms but it’s a different mechanism in the body that causes the conditions .
