Good job! I was wondering what you where using to seal the MDF and how you got it airtight. I foznd it extremely difficult to get reliable plugs or molds for infusion out of MDF.

The part was made with polyester infusion resin and gel coat. I used a polyester based resin sealer used in mould/plug making that can be worked up to a fine finish.

Do you degas the resin first?

I didn’t on this job. Full vacuum to de-bulk the laminate stack and then about half vacuum to infuse. It worked for me....

What did you use to stick the foam core to the outer previously infused skin?

The pieces of foam were just laid in place and then the laminate stack laid over. The foam has holes through it as well as grooves in the surface to allow the resin to flow to all surfaces. So during the infusion process the foam was bonded to the previously infused skin. If you had a complicated shape then spray tack adhesive could be used to hold things in place until a vacuum is pulled in the bag.
