Not sure what mode you were in or if you had traction off? (sorry if I missed any mention of it in the video) I'm not trying to sound like an expert or anything, but just like you and probably many others... like to attempt wheelies...Anyway bike should be in dynamic pro with traction control off, bike will wheelie effortlessly in 2nd gear at slower speeds and will also lift in 2nd at a faster speed in the meat of the power band, when you chop throttle and give it a quick snap... but clutching will almost guarantee lift all the time, cruising about 20-30 mph... apply more throttle as if you want to overtake and go around a slow moving car and at the same time blip the clutch, if the front didn't lift do the drill again but this time apply more throttle... youre practice area should be fine, but for me an open road less traveled gives me more confidence, I don't / cant do mile long wheelies, still trying to break my 3-5 second record, and would hate to drop the front if I do have that chance to break my record due to limited asphalt ahead of me

Thanks for the tip! I was in dynamic pro with traction control on, as I was scared to turn it off. My problem is my reluctance to give more 😲, will try your tips next time I am out!

its been a while, hopefully, you are ok and so is the bike. To practice wheelies, id sujest going to a grassy field with a little incline so that gravity helps control the bike so its easier and safer, plus, if you get a get off, both of you won't suffer as much as in the tarmac. I believe the first and most important part about this technique is to learn to cover, control and modulate the rear break, to the point of feeling extremely confident but never too much. After so, try doing it in enduro pro mode with tc off. Try using the clutch, altho the bike has more than enough power to wheelie with throttle alone, that will make it so you gain too much speed and thus making is more dangerous. Its not the same to loop a 550 lb bike at 15-25 mph than at 50-60 mph. The clutch control will help get the bike up faster without getting to much speed but start in baby steps.

I have a 2016 1200GS. With traction control on it will lift the wheel a fair amount and then drop it back down. It I hold throttle it hops mankind me look like an idiot. It actually wheelies really nice with traction control off. It is much easier with an almost empty tank. Your wheelie control might work better than mine being newer. Keep practicing. Doing little hop wheelies is a lot of fun.

Thanks for the advice, yup need more practice. Also noticed that I need a longer place, I saw that I have to keep the throttle on for a longer time. It sure is a lot of fun, next up is standing wheelies offroad, There is a great video on it by Chirs birch :-)!
