I love seeing this because I was doing something like this with my 70 beetle baja. Buy always running into road blocks. So I've decided to pick up an old 98 ford expedition for dirt cheap (600$) it runs just fixing the misfire first then gonna look into the steering amd suspension and brakes. But cutting the body off (yes I know it's body on frame) but I don't want to build a floor rather just drill a couple holes and weld plates on the frame and build a roll cage off the frame around the floor. Going to shorten the frame closer to the axle after I put some cage points where needed. Have that beefy v8 and 4wd. Delete some of the restrictions to wake it up as well if I need more power after removing most of the weight it's easy to add power to those 4.6s.

I have a very similar V.W. Powered desert rail buggy I run here in California. My engine is built with a 12:1 compression ratio, only downside is I have to run 110 octane race fuel but it’s fast. It has disk brakes, steering brakes, rack and pinion and power steering, lots of fun.

Thanks for watching! I run a stock pressure plate and a 4 puck clutch disk, those last for years in a buggy like mine and Kurt's.
