A great set of power with those GP35s on those classic Alco trucks plus the old junky Freight cars. Some modeler would have a field day with the last two cars being either reject coils or what's left after slitting. Thanks for taking the time to chase this obscure line. As a retired bus driver that was a poor safety stop. To me looking for and waiting for a train was a treat during the workday

Fascinating video. The best kind of railroad; low speed operation on bad track hauling scrap metal. Really neat. I loved the trestle over another 2-track main.

That bridge over the double-track is in Kent. There's a walking path right near there that you can see if you look on the other side of the river at 9:30.

Hi nose GP35's, ex Nickle plate road. The AAR trucks were part of a trade in EMD did back in the early days to save the railroad money. I always liked the Akron, Canton & Youngstown throwback, since the AC&Y ran through my back yard as a kid. Excellent video.

No engines on the W&LE are NKP engines. They came from the N&W, Southern and Rio Grande.

I like viewing short line operations but I do wonder if their is a “ fuel conservation “ program in effect, the right-of-way has had some nice attention given to it, good video and sweet family, 👍 …

You know, if someone didn't want those shiny rolls of sheet steel, I would have gladly taken them off their hands.😁 Great vid! It's interesting to see the old U boat trucks still putting on milage. Regards!

What's the story on taking back this line?
@kerryrock92488 ай бұрын
The Old Man realized he could make more money from it and kicked the shortline off.

Just as noisy as when they were new! Nice to look at and run because they have a control stand that you can run in either direction.

AC&Y the old Akron Canton and Youngstown railroad where this train starts from. They also have an engine that has the P&WV for Pittsburg and West Virginia.

This is why it's always a crap-shoot to gain trackage rights or leasing right-of-way (depending upon the fine print, of course). The lessee is at the mercy of the owner and as soon as a new customer comes along and the economics change... take it back.
@kerryrock92488 ай бұрын
Correct! The Old Man saw they were making money and kicked them off. Much like what he did to the Orrville trains that he used for PR purposes.

The bus running the rails wasn't a good look if that was a city bus.

I'd have stopped to watch the train! I go over a grade crossing 4 times a day, 5 days a week and never see a train but the rails are shiny so I know it's in use..

@@1940limited I know the feeling as I barely get to see any trains and what little bit I get to see, I cherish.

Great video, that bus driver is a moron. If new steel coils are not sold in a certain amount of time the mill had to take them back and re melt them. My cousin did this job at the steel mill for a couple years.
