If the guy in the grey SUV was so annoyed by the train then all he had to do was turn around and find another way across the tracks. No sense in starting a needless argument with someone who was minding their own business. It almost amazes me how hateful people in general have become here in this world. The guy clearly showed his ignorance. Keep doing what you are doing and just ignore someone like that.

As long as you're not considered "fouling the tracks", meaning keep at least 4 feet from the tracks and not trespassing on Railroad property, there's really nothing they can do to you! Sounds like that guy was just trying to be a trouble maker, sadly you run into those types from time to time!
@Hendo56Ай бұрын
Here in Maryland CSX requires 18 feet from the tracks.
@randallellison6421Ай бұрын
@Hendo56 I figured it's different depending on the location and/or railroad. The reason it's 4 feet here on the BNSF Thayer Subdivision is that there are areas where we dropoff crews that are barely wide enough to get a van in there, and we have no choice but to get very close to the tracks, which can make things a little nerve-wracking at times!

My wife and I watch Dan Sheekoz on KZbin, it's a Russian husband, wife, and toddler daughter, not train related. Yet we've never seen anyone cause a problem like the Karen did on your show. I was a Union Rep for years, the Karen is a tough guy, big talk, but little essence. I've seen people sound tough, then fall apart when challenged by the company. Honestly, we were told to remain 6' or more from active railroad tracks, we even had a walkway on a railroad bridge, and were permitted on the bridge when in use, I couldn't believe how much the end of the cars jutted out (there was a curve on the bridge), but there was a line, I doubt it was 6' from the rail, and we'd have to stay behind it. To do maintenance jobs within a certain proximity to tracks (in-plant, with rail traffic moving slowly), De-Railers were used, with a sign that indicated it was in place. But guys sometimes put them on backwards, then they'd be not much more than speed bumps. I remember telling a guy I knew that he just put it on backwards (it's supposed to result in the wheel coming off the tracks, but put on wrong, it lifts the wheel pushing towards the center of the tracks and the flange on the opposite wheels keeps it on the track). He got angry briefly, he had many more years in the mill than I, but he saw the truth in what I said and he flipped it around. The Karen spent too much time on the issue. If he had a legitimate concern, he should of just stated it without the barking.

OH geez. I catch trains in Bradford Pennsylavania home to the Buffalo and Pittsburgh railroad, we get lots of idiots. One time two girls were going across the tracks and the gates were going down, they tried to go across the gates but they were almost all the way down, I noticed them and shouted "Stop! The gates! Whats the matter with you!??" And they were pissed at me, then turned around and walks the other way.

There seems to be a daily n/bound train during the night with s/bound return late mornings Monday-Friday. That Saturday afternoon I was surprised to hear the Seasons Road crossing gate and then see 106 pulling these two passenger cars - one being an open platform observation or business car. I have since called their Customer Service number to learn more. I was told the railroad owns these two cars - but not housed on the property. They are used to show customers and potential customers the property and potential business locations. However, the train I spotted back on October 29th was actually a day long excursion that was won by an employee at the company picnic - an event for family and friends. How kewl is that!!!

Nice work, there. Sorry about your encounter with the train hater. He probably got pissed because he thought it was your fault, like you could split the train in half and he'd be on his merry way. If it went for the railroads he would have that vehicle. Hope his wife ignored him when he got home.
