Spent 3 years in LA (Lower Alabama) and met some of the nicest and hardest working people anywhere until it came to football. Auburn fans were normal ‘root for my team’ folks. The rules analyst came in and Alabama should have gotten time to sub there, the refs did a bad job there but he def shouldn't have flopped like that, it was blatant and technically Alabama did get flagged on that play for illegal substitution. That and a missed PI on Williams in the endzone, and blatant missed defensive holding, and the substitution debacle that was clearly on the refs (ESPN’s rules analyst even agrees) it’s tough to win when you’re playing against the refs too. Alabama certainly deserved to lose and was the worse team today though, but that doesn’t mean horrendous officiating shouldn’t be called out.

Great seesaw affair, back and forth. Two major bad calls during the game, first one Alabama had the ball, 3rd and 10 at 15:07 mark, on rush by Tennessee's Pearce his helmet was definitely in the neutral zone, he was offside, not called. Pearce clipped the heels of Milroe on the play, resulting in short gain, no first down. Bama had to punt. On next possession, Alabama 3rd and 7, at 15:49 mark, short pass to Alabamas Kendrick Law was thrown behind him, and was incomplete. Defender Boo Carter then made contact with Law after the play was over, taunting him. Law retaliated with push and Carter then threw a punch. Only Law was penalized, obviously should have been offsetting, referees were asleep at the switch and lost control. Referees made a lot of interference and holding calls in the game, far more than normal. I would give the referees a C- grade for the game.

Great effort by 2 great teams. A couple of official calls went with the home team. The crowd seem to affected the judgment of the officials. But it was a close game so these little things may have affected the outcome. For many years Alabama dominated the SEC, it seems Tennessee will have something to say about the SEC Championship.
