Sirens of NE Ohio You should get one of the many unrecorded Fermi Nuclear 2001-SRN’s. The Monroe County Whelens and Mods on the other hand are extremely over-recorded...meanwhile over Spring Break I’ll be in central Florida...aka the land of no sirens at all (even though they’ve been hit by many bad tornadoes in the past).

they used to have their original controls but they failed and since they were maintained by Federal Signal, they installed UV controls to keep the siren and not replace it. most modulators in Michigan replaced whelens.

_Almost all the rotation sirens coming from the Whelen company don't have collector rings and brushes in the rotator box, making the head of the siren move to clockwise and counterclockwise, preventing the wires to twist while it's rotating._

They aren’t equipped with collector rings and brushes, so they’re meant to rotate clockwise and anti-clockwise to prevent the wires from twisting and snapping. If you’re talking about how come it doesn’t rotate much during the voice, it’s programmed to rotate like that to read messages to every individual direction and nit just play it while rotating completely.

@@gunnerjohnson2840 if I had to guess this 3016 probably had an older ESC- 864 controller the probably wasn't compatible with a two-way monitoring system or just wore out.

These Whelens are OLD (~1982). When the county bought them from Fermi Nuclear in 2002, they still had their original controllers, and continued to operate until 2006. The old system was starting to have issues by that point. That's when everything was switched over to UV and about 15 additional sirens (6024s) were also added.

It has a directional horn, so sound output won't be even. The whole area needs the voice.

The whole area needs the voice because of how quiet is it when facing away from a location so it does 4 and rotates 1/4 of the way and once it reaches its Home position it sounds the siren
