Whelen WS-3000 Voice & 2001-SRN Alert: Bedford Park, IL

Күн бұрын

I know I changed the title; according to Whelen, the '3016'
was actually called the WS/WPS 3000, as this siren always had all 16 drivers unlike the WS4000 that could have fewer than 4...
caught this dirty and unhealthy sounding rarity that really surprised me with voice! The siren that can be heard is a 2001 Roundback that is unbelievably high pitched. this siren is located in Gate #1 (near Columbia Drive) at the Ingredion Corn Plant in Bedford Park. This footage was filmed using a Cannon PowerShot SX20 IS. Enjoy!
"This is a test of the plant warning system" repeated three times for six cycles.

If this is for the Ingredion corn plant, I bet the siren's there for in case of: "attention, the plant's capacity has exceeded...come pick up your free corn cobs and kernels."

LOL, I think it may because corn is highly flammable, and can spontaneously combust, but that would be hilarious!

Siren Hunters Actually, this siren was installed because if there was a corn related explosion, it could lead to Ethanol being leaked into the air, which is hazardous if inhaled.
@ScireVolo
@ScireVolo 8 жыл бұрын
+HarryboTheOgle Do you work at that plant? I worked there on a daily basis for 9 months cleaning out rail cars and doing 'emergency' (suddenly very important) jobs around the plant, and to my knowledge, no ethanol is made there. I've also worked at several ethanol plants between Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, and Nebraska. This plant is nothing like an ethanol plant, it is purely food grade ingredients and feed for livestock. Also, from my knowledge, the most dangerous building there is, 'germ hexane' (we just call it 'hexane.') It is the only building surrounded with a barbed wire fence about 100 yrds away from the building. The entire plant property is also surrounded with barbed wire fence. Whenever we work in hexane, there are A LOT of special safe work procedures, like using spark resistant tools, wrapping the vacuum hose with a grounded copper wire to prevent static spark (and I've been shocked by static with arcs nearly 10 inches long, static is no joke, and it hurts,) and etc.... Ive been told that if that building blows up, then the entire plant will be gone.... but that is probably just an exaggeration... unless the explosion also exploded the Praxair lines.... Either way, there are plenty of hazardous substances at that plant (just like any other plant,) but ethanol is not one of them. From what I can recall, that siren is used for various, general warnings, like severe weather, tornado, fire, etc. The siren that you hear here is heard on the first Tuesday of every month.

@MidwestSirenProductions 8 жыл бұрын
I do not think Whelen ever had a female voice, I think the ones at St. Lucie and Turkey Point have custom voices; as the county could use their own voices if they choose. To me, this voice sounds male, just because it is too deep and nasally to be a women's voice.

+Colten Fritz (Coltenator) This siren is the same as what st.luice used to had. but sadly, its gone. But the voice KIND of sounded the same as st.luice (i seen 55 sirens) and turkey point (5...). St.luice Officially kept these voice and yet, Even the new 4004's have this. But my response to this is no, they have many different voices and different type of people doing it.
