He was calling her a monster/saying she looked stupid/saying she looked like a ghost/that she shouldn’t be wearing it in public/that it wasn’t normal to wear anymore. And the people were defending her by saying she looked beautiful/saying who was he to judge her/praising her for wearing it/praising her for keeping the culture of HanFu and wearing HanFu alive, etc... My Mandarin and Chinese cultural knowledge is nowhere near perfect so feel free correct me if I got anything wrong but this is what I could pick up! When I was young I wear hippy clothes sometimes Indian clothes from India, dress classic and Gipsy too, in the 60s and 70s we dress freely, if I could get a China Hanfu back then I would dress like that. The girls and guys who dress in China who like to wear Hanfu they look beautiful and guys so handsome. I think one should have the freedom to dress whatever they like. Chinese traditional clothing of older time periods are very beautiful, and I personally love the one used in the video. I would love to see some of these older styles of clothing return and become fashionable again, not just regarded as 'costumes'.
@kikixchannel10 ай бұрын
Frankly...I don't think they are underrated at all. It's just that they are...too high quality...I mean literally. The proper traditional clothes did not skimp on materials quality since they just didn't have the cheap alternatives we have now. And a good quality piece of clothing was more important than a bunch of junk. And people do generally think of them as beautiful and elegant. It's just that they do seem out of place with how different they are. Most people just don't want to catch so much attention, especially women that may have more than enough problems with that. So they aren't necessarily worn on a regular basis. Especially if they are quality ones. Do you know just how much a proper kimono can cost? You can have a full set of clothes or two for the price of one. Of course there are cheap 'fakes', but yeah. They won't look good at all.

There's definitely trending clothes and peer pressure in America but unless you're in "the hood" no one is really going to say anything or bother you. If this girl dressed like that where I live she would get a lot of positive attention because she looks so cool. Now if she was 300lb and cheeks hanging out at Walmart... that's a different story 😂
i almost cried, those girls that stood next to her and didnt say a word were just like some girls i ran into when i was having a hard time and they never said anything, just protected me while offering comfort and blocking the other guy. i am so grateful for those girls. they made me feel so safe.

When I was about 22, I worked at a store that sold fun little imported decorations from around the world, all hand crafted in their origin of culture. We had a day that celebrated different cultures at that work and we were asked to either wear or have something on us that represented the culture (or one of the cultures) from our personal ancestry. My father is half Apache. My mother was half Cherokee. We used to visit a lot of native gatherings wherever we happened to be living in different parts of the country. So i happened to have a full buckskin, traditional style Cherokee dress. I wore it in and had fun (SO glad it was winter at the time, because i would have melted in all that leather). And when it came time to go home, I went and did my shopping, etc. Had to ride the bus to get home. I got several comments on the dress. But I also had a several very rude people bullying me for wearing it. One of them actually calling me "some kind of retard savage." The point is, there are a lot of nice people in the world...but there will always be the jerks who think it's perfectly ok to treat someone like that. I like to think they are the kind of people who will end up all alone at the end other their lives because no one will want to be around them.
How much I would give to come back to those ancient times. Chinese aestethic is just magnificent. Pure art walking on the street.

That Chinese girl's dress is not Hanbok(한복). That dress is Hanfu(한푸). Instead of writing 한복 in Korean subtitles and Korean translation title, write 한푸(Hanfu) in pronunciarion. 한복's Korean meaning is Hanbok which is Korean traditional clothes. When I clicked on this video, I was perplexed to see her wearing a Hanfu because of video's title(한복).
@살기좋은대한민국-q5z3 жыл бұрын
Yes True.
@Deandzzzzzz3 жыл бұрын
I am sure that’s a translation error. I’ve looked it up online. Clearly HANFU refers to clothes worn by ancient Chinese from Han dynasty, which is 206 BC, to Ming dynasty 1644 AD (the last dynasty ruled by Han people before Qing dynasty). Document clearly says that HANFU has influenced traditional clothing of neighboring countries including Korean Hanbok, Japanese Kimono and Vietnamese ao giao linh. But NOT THE SAME. Hanbok has been influenced by HANFU and developed into its own unique style for sure.
@kaykim22783 жыл бұрын
@@Deandzzzzzz Korean Hanbok is not influenced by Hanfu. I believe lots of Chinese ppl insist that Hanbok came from China which is not true. Hanbok n Hanfu are totally different but I got your point. The hanbok can be traced back to the Three Kingdoms of Korea period,[33][34][35][36] with roots in the peoples of what is now northern Korea and Manchuria.[37][38] Early forms of Hanbok can be seen in the art of Goguryeo tomb murals in the same period.[36][37][38][39] From this time, the basic structure of hanbok, namely the jeogori jacket, baji pants, and the chima skirt, were already established. Short, tight trousers and tight, waist-length jackets were worn by both men and women during the early years of the Three Kingdoms of Korea period. - By Wikipedia

@@kaykim2278 I know that heaps of Korean people are not proud of the history that Gojoseon, or ancient Korea, was a tribute state to ancient China for hundreds of years. Hence they try VERY hard to deny it. You are free to believe in whatever you like to believe. HOWEVER it does not change the fact simply because you don’t like this part of the Korean history. Japanese people never deny the fact that Japanese culture was influenced by Chinese culture in ancient time. Yet they still stand tall and are proud of their culture because their culture is unique and beautiful in their own ways. Psychologically speaking, the strong urge to deny a fact is an act of lack of courage and confidence. I am truly sorry for you.

@UCioqL0JigPPuPN9t9U8I78Q well I said it in the first comment already. Was influenced by Chinese culture but NOT THE SAME. It is you that twist my words. Hanbok comes from China?? OMG. Probably it’s because of your level of English proficiency. 🤦🏻🤦🏻

"modern" and "westernized" are cultures too. "culture" is not something that is lost, it is something that changes and adapts from place to place and time to time. What you recognize as representative of a particular culture may change, but your feelings might be because you are looking at it as a still image of what "was" at a particular time and treat it as if you are losing something instead of changing and gaining new things

For political reasons basically. China is a communist country and so they don't want to romanticize ancient society. This was very heart-warming, it's sad that there's not many more people like this. Real talk: I used to always dress differently, more to a goth style to pastel goth. And people would bully me all the time, even throw me on the ground and step on me, literally walk all over me like a rug and nobody did anything. I had people say I looked really cute on the bus, even old ladies. But I stopped dressing like this, ever since a guy, who I thought it was my friend, threw me to a moving road and a car stopped, thankfully, half a meter to my head. I live in a really horrible close-minded place, been saving money for so long just to get out of here... Anyway, hope people learn from this video, and maybe my story... which was really hard to share.
