We have a guy at our shop who is on the spectrum, I have done my best to help him out as best as I could. He wanted to learn necrons and asked for me to put a list together for him, i build one and explain how it works and what he needs to do with it. Only after playing a single match (where he completely forgets nearly everything I explained to him) he decided to enter our shops 1.5k tournament… and he got creamed back to back and actually started crying and getting a attitude with people who were trying to explain to him how he could improve. Even after this incident I tried teaching him necrons. The only problem is everything I tell him goes into one ear and out the other, I don’t want to spend any more time on something that causes frustration.

Hey North! Bobby here. Thanks for reading out my bolt action story. (I will confess I was being a knob in this case, as I was nitpicking rules.) I will also HIGHLY RECOMMEND Bolt Action as it is a very fun game, and you definitely get your money’s worth for the models. Love the channel, will have more stories on the way. Cheers chap.

I love Bolt Action, its very thematic and fun. Doing specific battle is really cool as well. We've done massive D-Day games where 4 players landed on the beach while we defended. I played in the back fields guarding the guns firing on the beach, and had to fight my friends paratroopers to keep them firing on the beach.

A word as loaded with connotation as "retarded" still needs to be viewed in the context use. Personally, I wouldn't use it, but go for more modern methodology like "differently abled". In that sense, it doesn't matter which word is used if it is used out of spite for the Human in question, which I think wasn't the case here.

Bolt action is good fun, but very swingy. The random alternating unit activations can make for some very nail biting moments and some absolutely dumpster fire wastes of time, often in the same game. Also flamethrowers are busted beyond belief.

People with those disabilities sometimes act out not because they don't know any better, but because the rules aren't enforced with them. My highschool had a special-ed program and there was this one guy with down-syndrome who would walk up to other male students and start touching them. Most people wouldn't tell him not to because they were afraid of getting in trouble, and his minder would just let it happen. It wasn't until the guy straight up forcefully made-out with the side of another boy's head that the minder FINALLY got involved and she physically dragged him away. She would actually watch him from then on lol.

I don't play bolt action, but think it would be really cool if you did. Even just for the channel. I think it would be really interesting to hear about the wars you set up and what you think of the game in the way of how guns/armies might of functioned in real live vs how they are on the table top. Lots of content to be harvested

I highly recommend it. Every army has their own special rules and models, and a starter box gives you enough models for a decent size army to start playing right away.

Me and my wife were talking recently. She is a nurse and works with some mentally handicapped/retarded people. However, when she referred to their condition, she said that they called it intellectually delayed. I told her that was a dumb term and she asked "why?" I said "Well, because to refer to them as delayed means they aren't their yet but will eventually get there. They ain't ever gonna arrive at their destination." These are nurses and doctors. It seems that we are continually striving towards a world without offense and even science is buckling under the pressure.

I see what you mean by patience being good in such situations as these but like you said afterwards, most people with autism etc want to be treated like anybody else. I'm not patient with people touching my things without asking, no matter their mental state. I think it's a "keep your hands off of my food, I don't know you" kind of mentality that I have. Just in this case it is keep your hands off of my little painted toy soldiers and extortionately priced books :,)

Hi North, highly recommend bolt action, far cheaper than 40k and games flow better even with high historical themes. Got into it over six years ago with a Soviet Union army and grew from there, now the size of my German and Soviet armies would be second to none and enjoy kitbashing armies you can't buy like the Nationalist Chinese and Romania.

Can I ask the origins and meaning behind your comments about repositioning individuals into the sea? I am not familiar with it. Is it something you invented or a well known saying where you originated from? Also, what do you mean when you say this, is it a bit like suggesting people should simply go away but in a more harsh and brash way; or alternatively do you actually physically mean that one should dump people into the sea which could I guess be a tad dangerous depending on how this is achieved? Or does it mean something else entirely the meaning of which has escaped me? Just a point to clarify. Thank you very much for your videos as they are often, interesting.

I play Bolt Action and love it. I have many armies for it, you can do normal games or they also have a tank war rules set too. You also have the option to do an army that is based on real life units IE, Band of Brothers for example. I personally do the Ox and Bucks Airlander glider troops from Pegasus Bridge, as it is a battle honour from my regiment I am a member of.

Bolt action player here, yeah the game is very fun and easy to learn. And the miniatures are very cheap indeed, you can probably get a full army and then some for the price of one 40k combat patrol.

Bolt Action is a great game. Random unit activation makes for sone pretty tense moments. Miniatures are cheap, even here in NZ, and my son and I have even modified 7th Ed 40k rules to use the same dice pull system. Keeps everyone interested in the game. Quite fun. My friends and I got into Bolt Action in an effort to play together as a group again, since from the start of 8th we had kind of split up to play different games, sone continued with 8th, others made the full jump to Heresy.

I love the idea of Bolt Action, two people building plastic armies and pitting them against each other. The problem I have is that even at my age, I still feel too young for historicals, getting paint schemes right and authentic and all that. Too bad there isn't a sci-fi version of the game...

There is, Konflikt 47. It's a sci-fi wierd ww2 supplement that is compatible with the base rules of bolt action. As for proper paint schemes, you don't have to be spot on. Most people I played with didn't really care or even know much about ww2.

Bolt action is very fun, great potential for historical creativity if you're into it. You can theme around things such as the volkssturm, the Fallschirmjaeger, 101 Airborne, and much more. It does have a more old fashioned feeling of tabletop gaming though, more random and swingy... imo that's good fun for casual games though :P
