I’ve been married for 25 years and my husband still does all these things. Might I add, he takes care of you without complaint during sickness. Ten years ago I had pancreatic cancer that had spread to my liver. It was hard for us both but I can say that my husband stepped up like no one else (aside from my parents). He absolutely did everything for me! It’s a miracle I’m here and I thank God for that! But having a real loving and caring husband is even more of a miracle this day and age. Lady’s don’t settle. Pray for the mate God wants you to have and all else will fall into place.

I was seeing a guy for two years. He always set the dates and called the shots. He introduced me to his family and friends. One Easter he took me to his big extended family dinner. I always helped with everything. During dishes his friend showed up and he left to go bowling. Everyone was shocked. He thought that was OK because I was comfortable with this family and they loved me. I told him I was not OK with that but he left anyway. Then my daughter got sick and was life flighted to the hospital in the city. I asked him to go with me and he said he couldn’t because he has to work in the morning so my roommate took me. Nothing more to say, so I let him go.

I’m mostly in agreement with you, but the “wife material” vs “friend material” part kind of lost me. My husband IS my best friend. He was my prom date in high school (so he’s known me with braces and a bad perm at 17) and we have learned to grow together, respect each other’s views, give each other space and to make time for each other romantically every week. We’ve been together nearly 40 years, married 30 years with 2 great kids & looking at retirement in a handful of years. To be honest, I struggle with my generation. I’ve always wanted to find someone who truly loves me for me and not by how much I make or own. I’m never asked about my goals or dreams just about how much money and I’m told it’s never enough. I’ve had my professional career my whole life of 30+ years and because I make under a 100k a year, it turns all men off. Also, everything you said is what was demanded of me by men. They have told me so. Now, fifty years later and I’m getting up there in years and still this gender equality thing is confusing when you’ve been raised by grandparents. It has only been a month. However he has let me know he is not actively looking or wanting to see any other woman. We see each other twice weekly. This is a good list, but l agree with a comment below. Be careful!!!! Narcissism is becoming so common. I have been married for 40 years but just left the relationship. The first few months had everything on this list and then it turned. I was sucked in and had children. I had no idea what Narcissism was and thought l needed to work harder at my marriage. Now l get what all was taking place. All the pieces are falling into place as l begin to understand it all.
