I got tired of that, finally snapped, got told to leave - which I did. Then came the love bombing, sex, but I noticed that mutuals behaved strangely towards me. It was only when watching a video similar to this one that I've realised I'm traumatised and can barely remember who I was before we married 14 years ago. Now we have the drama stage that she wants me to be involved in (for the sake of the children, of course). Apparently, she's been upsetting other people - women - and I think I know why. I've also had the guilt tripping self harm thing thrown in for food measure. I'm expecting that her last move will be to use the children as a weapon. Thankfully, I'm getting counselling (very soon) aside from picking up ideas from videos such as this. When you finally see it, you cannot unsee it!

Yes, it has to be carefully considered. A lot depends on how much they know about you - what they've surmised (which will be twisted anyway) and what you have actually shared with them. If they don't know much they will make it all up - and as viciously as they possibly can. My narc is four years in the wilderness and has never stopped with the smear campaigns and attempts to play the poor, broken, limping victim. It's been destructive - but I soon found out who my friends were.

Record them, save their emails and text threats. Make sure your bank accounts and debts are secure and separate from theirs. If they have any keys to any of your things, get those keys back before they know why, even if you have to sneak them. If you can't get the keys, then change your locks. Be prepared to file for a Protective Order. And I moved. My narc had a great job that he couldn't leave, it was easier for him to get a new victim. I'm glad I moved, I made a whole new circle of friends and started my favorite career of my lifetime.

My mother was a covert narcissist who painted me and my twin very differently. I was the 'bad' twin from as young as 8months old and my soster was the 'perfect' twin. Its been so saddening over the years seeing the absolute damage this has done to my sister. She is so sensitive to any form of criticism that you can't have a voice or close relationship with her. She victimises herself and due to her sensitive ego she has absolutely no capacity to relate to others and empathise. I know she is a good person deep down and for decades I've tried to build her self confidence but it remains fragile. Since my mum passed she's literally become her and due to her sensitivities can't look at herself or get the help she needs. I've had to step away recently because I obviously carry my own baggage of being invalidated and being painted as a bad person my whole life. I guess I had less to lose when looking at myself because I already believed I was evil amd not good enough. I am now on the recieving end of her smearing me across my family and it's hard to remain quiet. I keep telling myself that as long as I wake up every day and stay true to myself and do the right thing, it will work out

I am currently married to a malignant narc. She is something else. Ive been accused of being a murderer, child molester, gay, and she constantly tells our 4 year old son that i dont give a shit about him. She is extremely evil and I'm fighting back now! It hurts to be vulnerable and to have your past used against you so heavily, mostly things that were out of my control, example: its all my fault that there are humans being trafficked in south korea (i was a soldier in the army stationed at camp casey). The ex played the caring husband. He was also a stalker, desperate and dangerous. He had everyone backing him including my sons. He had everyone believing I was nuts and he was soooo concerned about me. In court I nailed him when my attorney brought up his perverted ways and how he expected me to lie about where he was when a cop came to the door. Nope. I won't lie to cover someone's backside! He couldn't believe I told my attorney, and everyone else he had brought to court to back him. He was shocked, embarrassed, and humiliated. As he should have been. I guess he thought he was going to win everyone over. It took a few years even after divorce to finally be free of him. I don't ever want to see him, or hear that creeps voice ever again.

My mom, the narcissist, convinced a family friend (who has been a family friend for over 50 years), to stalk me. I was on to him immediately. I told him, yesterday, 4/29/2024, that he is to stop calling me and stop leaving voicemails. I then hung up on him. I don't trust anyone who is a friend of my mom. I've decided that I need to leave the state, so that I put as much distance between us as possible. I'll be honest ... I'm really freaked out by her actions. She has taken all of this to the next level and I don't like this one bit. I'm going to downsize my storage unit, save up my money and get as far from my mother as possible.

Been married to a narcissist for 30 years and now that we're divorcing he's turned the tables and called me the narcissist, along with giving copious amounts of money to our 3 grown children and effectively turning them against me. My head is spinning and I'm amazed he's been so successful. I'm an intelligent woman who's always looked at family as a place of love, understanding, sometimes conflict, but always communication and forgiveness. It only recently dawned on me that he's looked at our family as a chess game! When I finally found out how much he'd deceived me (forging my signature on a huge homeowner's loan) I lost it, screamed at him, and ... he taped me! Even sent it to my children to show how crazy I was. How does one defend against this behavior? Would never dawn on me to tape a family member when angry.

He gets so mad. have to remember. he hates you anyway so you just treat them like naughty kids. ignoring them helps too. they're peices of shite and they have no idea the long lasting damage they inflict and I completely understand how bad it gets. my narc of 20years shattered my soul. even went back to him and he did it all over again. it hurts just as much 2nd time round. I'm not an angry person but wow he actually did make me crazy.. still have to deal with him with young children involved so it is hard and he's extremely nasty and uncooperative regarding information pertaining to raising the kids. I was so hurt I kept letting him hurt then I decided one day no more. now I just laugh in his face. if he accuses me of things I tell him he forgot to ad this this and that. when he says I'm crazy I just say well it took your dumb ass long enough to work that out.. he hates it.. but I never say it angry. always just with a laugh at him at HIS expense like turn the joke back onto them remember they ARE the joke. they're pathetic. anyways I'd tried everything and this is working a treat plus it's so entertaining 😅😅

PS they rely on you being broken. as hard as it is when dealing with them you just can't let the see it. you have to become an actor. pretend your in a movie and just oooze happiness, confidence and strength. this above all fills them with rage. because they see they didn't break you. they actually go and then start the stages of grief. ha ha. it's hilarious. just waiting now for mine to get acceptance and go quietly like the turd he is and never come back. in saying that though. internally I'm a bloody mess and hyper vigilant at all times. so yeah. the whole things is just really unfair at the end of the day. these people should be locked up for public safety 😢

Former narc friends found out last night I am no longer interested. Every year for the Super Bowl they’d ask us to buy the food and alcohol for the party. My husband went over for the 4th quarter, and sent me pics. No party food no nothing, 5 other people there staring at my husband like he’s gonna jump up and go buy food in the last few minutes of the game. A total of 9 adults there with jobs and cars and they expected us to “ play our role.” How pathetic is that!!! My former friend I have not talked to her since July 2022. I’m sure they are all slamming us calling us selfish etc. No contact now from either of us!! We can slay this just like our Chiefs slayed the Eagles in the Super Bowl!! No disrespect Eagle fans, you guys played an awesome game !

Just email what you're bringing with your RRSP so that there are no doubles? I AM slaying this....thanks to you! Taking care of myself and I am so different already.... 😂 A few in my life are already so confused. I've set boundaries annnnd of course it's not going well for them.... they're already in smear mode. It's astounding how many narcs I'm related to or have chosen in my life. Right now, I'm realizing I didn't just grow up in a toxic drunk abusive household, I grew up in a toxic drunk abusive narcissistic household. My father, malignant....my mother, covert. My dad was physically abusive, jaw fractures and all. Then he'd add in how I made him mad. That he did it cause I made him. My mother, covert....I'd confide in her and she would put it away to use against me later. Drank so much she probably doesn't even remember half my childhood and plays the victim while making things up about me. It's been flying at me this way for so long. I never knew which way it was going to come from next. I'd seem to choose friends that were exhibiting the same behaviors....and choosing partners aswell. My current husband is quite a narc....but he's aware and we speak to each other with respect. I research and share with him so we can communicate better. I can explain why he hurt me and vice versa. This journey began about two years ago....I just put some boundaries down and my family and others went batshit! Neither of my parents speak to me, they haven't in a few years. Now cousins uncles aunts etc.....do not talk to me. They are old and playing the "she's ungrateful and a drunk" bit. It astounds me how kids, even grown, seem to be held in the wrong. That it's the child who, for some reason, is responsible for apologizing and being the scapegoat. I just want to thank you for your time, because that's what you give. I appreciate it so much.

Great video, Rebecca. Maybe some day you could address how the estrange spouse purposely manipulates the process in the hopes that you never get to settle. That's my experience. Three blown mediations and I am bulldozing my way to Court. My lawyer is so surprised that his lawyer doesn't even want to pick up the phone to try to discuss/get us over the finish line. Every response is another two steps backwards. I had to explain to her that his lawyer is on retainer and essentially she is getting paid NOT to settle. In other words, it's all passive income (invoicing) for her. 4.5 years and counting. He is now "panicking" I wisened up to his game. I would hands-down classify him as a malignant narc. Hard to believe, but his cultivated "saint" persona is the polar opposite of what lies beneath. I am telling everyone everything even though I know I sound "crazy" (only when I'm talking about him). Kinda like when Katie H spent as much time in the public eye as possible when separating from her marriage. Safest thing for her to do was call the paps for a pap call. Safest place for her to be was in plain sight as often as possible.

I’m going through the same situation with my wife. She filed two allegations. One with the court and one through my employer. However, I continually prayed despite her delaying tactics. And now my employer is stating to see her inconsistencies and confirmed that she is a narc. She’s retained a lawyer who’s not versed in family law and there coming with childish proposals that’s resulting in concentric spiraling aka toddler tantrum.

Is there any way to build financial incentive into the settlement? Some way to drain more money out of him, while he drags it out? Make him responsible for all the Income Taxes, somehow? Even if you can't really do it, if he THINKS you can do it, he'll fold. No one wants to fight the IRS. Or can you make him think that somehow YOU are the one getting benefit from delaying the settlement? If he thinks that it makes you happy, he'll look for a way to stop it.

(Also I liked the first part about "Just say goodbye"... Hits very close to home, but let's not make it all about me. Excellent advice for some kids out there in your audience.)
