Should we bring back mental asylums? What is the solution? Obviously it would be nice if family could take care of folks in these cases, but not all families are willing or able to do so… and that’s if the person even has a family. @squanchysquanch1840 Жыл бұрын
@@averysspookshowspectacular6205 there are half-way houses, sober living homes, shelters etc. there are folks who take care of vulnerable people. Like I said, having family do this is probably the main viable option, but isn’t an option for everyone. And I don’t think family members should be forced to take care of mentally ill adults. My older brother is mentally disabled due to drug overdoses, my best friend in high school was emancipated by his parents at 17 and went schizophrenic due to meth use. He is still living on the streets as far as I know. These issues are very relevant to me, so I certainly have compassion for folks going through things like this, but there’s no easy solution. Ofc it would be nice to house everyone and have folks look after them, but we don’t live in a utopia and human nature shows us that often times these people are taken advantage of or treated poorly by their caretakers, even by their own family sometimes. So I don’t think there’s really a valid solution that has been discovered, at least not yet. I don’t think socializing these issues would be effective, even if we did have the resources to do so. It’s easy to go on about how terrible and sad it is, it’s an entirely other thing to figure out an effective solution.

Cases like Amanda make you wonder if being a star actor at a young age is actually worth it. On the surface the money, opportunities, fame & all the perks of achieving stardom so young seems to instantly make it seem well worth it & a extremely desirable postion but it seems there's a very high probability of self destruction caused by the seedy entertainment industry & it's extremely shady reputation along with losing your privacy, growing up in the public eye where any mistakes you make is put under a microscope for the world to see & judge or the inevitable paranoia you would get about the intentions of the people you meet & surround yourself with not to mention fearing the higher possibility of attracting obsessive mentally unstable "fans" the more popular you become which would make anyone feel uneasy & feel the need to have your guard up at all times. You seem to have to subject yourself to the dark, dangerous rituals & reality of hollyweird to truly make it, are all the perks of stardom actually worth it?

I used to come home from school and watch her show all the time. She was my first real crush. Sad to see what happened to her.

Two drug addicts in a relationship is akin to two people who can’t swim trying to keep each other from drowning.

I infer from this that throwing a bong on the ground is more reprehensible than driving under the influence of ethanol and colliding with other vehicles.

Her mother shouldnt have taken her off the meds. A qualified doctor should have evaluated her and made that decision. For some conditions you need the meds and don't just "stop taking them" cold turkey. Shit like that pisses me off. No shit she was getting better to her Mom - it was the fucking medication, that her Mom put a stop to!

In the future, will you be covering Drake Bell and how he has declined in the years following Drake and Josh?

I pray for Amanda & people like her. She & other child stars in Hollywierd (yes, "Hollywierd") go threw so much & all too often, this is the outcome. This abuse needs to stop & mental illness needs to be taken more seriously.

I had no idea she had this level of up and down in her life so far. The very end just when I think "surely she's turned the corner" ... nope, wandering the streets naked
