Here's an honorable mention: Ohio judge Becky Doherty, while intoxicated, tried to use her judicial position to get out of a DUI charge. She used the "Do you know who I am?" line as well. The video is online. And here's the thing: no one is, or at least should be, above the law no matter what your position is whether you are a lawyer, judge, mayor, governor, or the President.

County Sheriff in my hometown got pulled over for a DUI, when footage was released. The funniest reactions are of the officers looking at his ID, realizing who he is, smile then still arrest him. He was also driving with another woman, who was not his wife. So things didn’t go that well for him.

Here's the thing....all those people with power broke the law, but their social status made sure that their punishments were extremely meager if not non-existent. But IMO, the higher the social status, the bigger the punishment because they are supposedly role models that are looked up too. Lead by example!

Here is my thing, if a representative of our government can't even be an adult enough NOT to drink/do drugs and drive, why would I trust that their judgement is any better on the laws they vote on? In the military a DUI can cost you your security clearance and rank, I don't think it is asking too much to hold our politicians to the same standard. Get a DUI? Lose your position. Plain and simple we need to hold them to higher standards if they are going to be standing at the podium saying that they represent us. I don't drink anymore and I NEVER drank and drove so they do not, in any way, represent the same morals and values that I adhere to.

I’ve been wanting to see a video about when abusing power goes wrong, because I had someone abuse their power against me and lie about it too.He was an acting high sheriff of the west midlands police over here in the uk in 2011 when I was nearly murdered whilst I was at work.Yes it did back fire on him,he lost his job as a result of it.

So I go to the store one night not even 1 minute from my house and I got assaulted by a man and women. the man even drove off with me and left my truck and dog in it in the parking lot. I was almost stripped of my clothes from the waist down by the woman and I got a crushed thumb a dislocated shoulder that can't be fixed. Brain damage. She beat me in the face with a cowboy boot. I know who they are and they are still free. The police couldn't care less. The one detective I kept going to for help was a real piece of work. But recently I found out his wife is addicted to meth and shot a guy in the leg. All was swept under the rug. Bow I know why they wouldn't help. They get a cut from drug dealers out here so they buddy up with them. I feel bad for them but kinda don't.

@Andrew You lucky it happened in the UK, That Sheriff would have gotten a 2nd try to kill you and would have succeeded in United states. You could have solid evidence on video, of the sheriff trying to kill you and the prosecutors and other criminal cops would have said, that video is photoshopped. LoL They all go in the backroom and speak loudly on how they going to KILL YOU, you can record that to and tell them that you heard all of them talking about killing you and they just deny it even when showing the video in that moment. And after that?, they yell your RESISTING!!, STOP RESISTING without even touching you, and yell GUN, GUN, GUN!!. it don't mean you have a gun that's just a code for saying get out of my way the peasant is going to DIE!!, we don't like TRUTHS!!. that's how it works in UNITED STATES. we have GANG FOR COPS and they're not in the (FBI/terrorist) list. 🤷♀😂

I'm sorry you went thru that... i understand the frustration. My first night working in a sheriff dept in Michigan, I was put in a 4-point restraint chair as part of my "training" (for my job as a dispatch clerk in the front of the sheriff dept, having no contact with inmates in the connected jail, i had to be "trained," according to my supervisor, who or course was full of sh*t) by 2 (male) deputies, and a (male) city police officer. Once I was restrained, they wouldn't release me, instead they sat and shot paper clips at my crotch with rubber bands, played with my hair, (let me just say... ick!) and took Polaroids of me, which they made copies of, and subsequently put up on the dept bulletin board with rude comments about me being "too tied up" to do my job properly, and alluding to my disability. (I have spine issues, and have had to use a can since I was 17) When I finally wriggled one hand free, they saw, and began to let me go, because I was almost in tears. It might not have been a big deal, but this was a REALLY small town, and I'd only moved there a year before... and somehow, "what happened" got back to the spouse of one of the corrections officers, and it turned into a game of "telephone" where each retelling changed what the events, and by the time a writer from the LOCAL NEWSPAPER came to the dept, and asked me about it, and I wanted to DIE. I wanted the floor to swallow me up right there. She'd been told (& I still have a hard time even saying this 23 years later) that I'd "taken on" 2 officers in the dispatch office my first night on the job.😠 My (now ex) husband heard this from a COWORKER of his, and he didn't work in LE, either! When I complained to my superiors, I was told I would get a formal apology and notation in my file. That never happened, of course. It turned out I wasn't the only one my "supervisor" had wronged, either... but I was the last before he was fired, and damn if THAT wasnt a long time coming!! He'd gotten away with so much over the years without consequences, like getting caught at his girlfriends house having sex while on duty, accidentally discharging his firearm in the locker room... the WOMEN'S locker room he'd snuck into, etc. (the reason why I always put my uniform on at home!) He was being sued by 6 people I knew of before I left the state, and was being charged with felonious assault on a civilian he'd pepper sprayed while the guy was already handcuffed and in the back of his cruiser. He'd said "I've always wanted to do this to a prick like youx (according to his former partner) He also jumped a deaf lady who refused a ride from him when he'd arrested her husband for DUI. The morning he was due in court, he disappeared with the one rifle that hadn't been confiscated from him, and the whole county and every LE dept in it, was out hunting for him that morning... they found him rolled up in his sleeping bag under a tree. The deputy with small man syndrome was NOT going to sit in the jail where he put so many other people. Why does LE have some many problem children in it?
