I just want to add to though those mental health illnesses don't give them a free pass to act inappropriately in the course of their jobs. What it means is, since they are considered to be of average above average intelligence, and education and World perspective, they should have the foresight to see that they are having a problem and then to address it in a responsible way. Oftentimes what happens when police officers have mental health, addiction issues, that it can impact their jobs and that they shouldn't bring it to those very sensitive jobs. Unfortunately my brother-in-law did and it is no longer a police officer.
@tedreynolds63632 жыл бұрын

@matt-19892 жыл бұрын
Law enforcement must be held to a higher standard than the average citizen. They are meant to serve and protect the public and are NOT above the law. They must be held accountable to a much higher degree and thus should have harsher sentences. The guy who killed his wife is a prime example as he only got 30 years and his history of abuse was already previously ignored. While I'm glad these piggies got caught, they're far from the only ones. They shake the already fragile trust in law enforcement and give the good cops who truly care for their communities a bad image. Hold them to a higher standard; make an example out of them. Then maybe people will start believing in the police more.

I don't like cops at all... I think they're all power hungry pigs but just because someone is "tattooed and overweight" isn't a red flag... You're giving the impression that you're a very shallow judgemental person to say such a thing ... Infact u also sound incredibly uneducated as well... Why you ask? Well how would an undercover cop infiltrate a gang or organized crime club if he "looked like a cop"?? Furthermore to say ALL cops must fit some physical profile is just silly... Shaun Lucas is a dipshit no doubt about it but to pinpoint that his appearance should be a red flag makes you just as much of one too 🤷♀️

I’ve been targeted by police before. I was walking home from a local Tim hortons and a cop just rolled up on me. He said he stopped me cause I was “arguing” with someone. I wasn’t even running on the sidewalk with my beats headphones on. I later found out it was my roommate across the street trying to get my attention and I didn’t see or hear him cause of my headphones. The officer found 1 gram of weed on me, which I had medical permission to use for chronic pain & ptsd. The whole time the cop was calling me a drug addict and how I’m gonna end up in jail. So I ended going to court and it got thrown out cause it was an illegal search, cop didn’t even come to the courthouse. If I was either native or a person of colour, I probably would’ve been beat or even shot. I don’t trust the police and I’m wary going out in public now

It definitely shouldn’t be allowed for officers to resign in order to avoid punishment.. a lot of us forget that they are just people in uniform.. the same with soldiers and judges.they are all capable of the same acts we are. It was over 100 degrees so I was getting first degree burns while he called me a ‘stupid b…’ for carrying my gun on a hike alone near the Mexico border. I had the ammo locked in my trunk separately and notified him I had my weapon and kept my hands on the wheel while he checked my permit. He apparently was pissed he had no reason to arrest me so was unnecessarily rough. Since then, I do not trust law enforcement to help me. Not a single damn one of them.
