ERROR - The story talks about humans thriving in extreme environments from the arctic to the deserts, then at 10:32 the narrative asks how humans survive in such a narrow range of temperatures???? Please keep the story consistent!
@Dusk.EighthLegion4 ай бұрын
Well in galactic terms, it is a narrow range of temperatures, minus 80 degrees Celsius to just over 50, it is kinda narrow when compared to space temperatures.

“… with an emphasis on the most extreme survival adaptations found there.” That’s not humans. White Island is an underwater volcano that kept growing until it became an above-water volcano. It’s just north of New Zealand’s North Island. In the deepest part of the caldera, there is a pond… lake… something. The air there is poisonous. The water is boiling hot. And it’s acidic. In fact, because it’s boiling hot, and the nature of acidity being what it is, the lake is MORE an idiotic than acid can normally become. Back before the most recent belch there, the company that took tourists out there had you sign a waiver, acknowledging that if ANY geologic activity happened, the boat would leave the dock immediately, and leave you there. During the belch a lot of people died, so there are no more tourist trips out there. My inner 12yr old is screaming about a literal lake of boiling acid in the caldera of a volcano. There is a species of algae (or bacteria… I’m an expert in neither, so I won’t try to invent facts and just say it’s one or the other) that happily lives in that water. Seals can hyper-oxygenate their blood, then empty their lungs for less buoyancy, then dive downwards for 30min stretches. To hunt. Hump back whales do it better, then fight giant squid, kill them (maybe getting some new scars) and coming up for air. Species of Australian birds hunt by finding burning branches, dropping them on as-yet Un burnt fiends, then catching anything that runs away. We domesticated dogs. Maybe even different groups of humans in vastly different areas domesticated dogs several times. Dogs now naturally produce the enzyme for digesting wheat. Because humans eat bread, they learned how. Lots and lots of predators will attack and eat people. Then we hunt them down and extinct them. Grey wolves, red wolves, etc. Orca are one of the smartest marine mammals. They could easily hunt us. Orca hunt and kill Great White sharks. There has never been a confirmed case of an Orca attacking a human. (Maybe they’ll attack back, if we go at them first… I’m fuzzy on that use case, so I’ll call it out now.) We are nowhere near the most specialized adaptation on Earth. We are generalists.

Wait - students from Venus, Neptune, and Jupiter? No way. BTW gravity on Jupiter is ~2.5 Earth's I'll still give the poster an upvote.

While I found the Galactic Acadamy seems to have an over abundance of students from planets in Earth's own solar system, which make the term Galactic a bit ridiculous, the story itself was a nice twist on the idea of a deathworld.

If they’re in our system and don’t understand why earth is a death world, they’re retarded.

The story is honestly stupid. The “beings” are mostly retarded, and this story is lame

Students from Venus, Jupiter, and Neptune, all planets in out solar system where no intelligent life exists? What an absurd story. I quit it half way through. I've already wasted fourteen minutes of my life on this crap.

This KZbin channel quite literally has “sci-fi” in its name, idk what else you expected. Of COURSE it’s not going to be realistic, we haven’t discovered intelligent life ANYWHERE else yet -_-
