You keep mentioning that many Upper Canadians were born in the present USA. The United Empire Loyalists had fled those 13 provinces of British America "in rebellion". The Loyalists were just that loyal to the crown even if they had been born in British America.

The only nation that calls it a major conflict that they won is Canada...and the people around the world fond of the idea America lost at something. But by all accounts neither side could get a decisive victory over the other side, which is the case when someone gets their butt kicked.

The Americans and Canadians-British just got a lot of back and forth military experience.The Natives are the ones that really lost.And I do think that it was an accident, you do not blow up all your amo like that for the whole province,, back then most where gentlemen rules,they would surrender or fight.Back then no one knew what kind of damage that explosion would cause and could have blown them selves up, makes no sense to do that on purpose.But who knows ?

@@andypandy9013 incorrect, the British sent reinforcements over hat found under Wellington and they lost every major battle from Baltimore, Plattsburgh, Fort Erie and New Orleans. No envoys were sent a across the Atlantic lol in fact it was the British that offered peace talks in august 1814. A war which the USA started? Oh after British impressing American sailors and supporting Native American attacks in the frontier? Both the British stopped Doug’s like a dub for the USA to me. Nothing wrong with being 0-2. 😂😂🤷

There is a mistake in your docuumentary. When your narrator mentions that the capitulation papers were in the archives in Ottawa, this is false, I know the building very well and it is in the Archives in Gatineau, Quebec, on the other side of the Outaouais river, facing Ottawa. So since you are stating precise moments of documented history, I beleive you must share the info properly.

My ancestors Were part of the British battalion sent to burn down the whitehouse after the Americans torched York. He settled near Perth ontario, Canada in 1816.

The U S didn't take into account the indigenous population of Canada, the Iroquois/Mohawk Confederacy and the Mi'kmaq Confederacy from Quebec to Nova Scotia, the Iroquois fought alongside the English speaking and the Mi'kmaq fought alongside the French and ferociously and smarty convincing American troops with overwhelming odds that 12 men were 100s as they attacked from every direction at night sewing chaos and causing panic and troops to retreat. The biggest thing the Americans underestimated was the Indigenous population of the Canadian side of turtle Island knowing as bad as the British were in keeping their word the Americans were blood thirsty killers who killed millions of our ancestors for land

Umm wrong, the native would later change sides and join the Americans after signing the 2nd treaty of Greenville in 1814 then declare at against the British (this included Tecumseh’s tribe the Shawnee).

@TheIceman567 Thanks for telling me my ancestral history 🤔 The Indigenous Nations of Canada! Not Indigenous Nations of the U.S. the Nations you mentioned are on the U.S side of the border. The Anishnaabe of the Great Lakes (Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi) supported Britain. The Iroquois Confederacy tribes were divided. The Oneida and Tuscarora supported the Americans. But the Mohawk, Cayuga, Onondaga, and Seneca supported Britain.
