The "when supernatural battles became comonplace" monolog was such a shock to me because the way everyone around the mc talked about it didn't feel like they were that bothered by the way he speaks just a bit annoyed, but this scene made me realize how much resentment can build up from "quirky" behavior, the voice actor NAILED it even if the rumors about it being done in 1 take are false I don't think many VA's could pull off the emotions of the character the way she did, a 10/10 performance.

That scene together with the scene where he loses his arm turned Erwin into one of my favourite anime characters of all time. It proved that he isn't just all talk when he says hes willing to sacrifice everything and die for the mission. No in the moment he is almost swallowed up alive by a titan and could have easily died right there he doesn't even flinch or look in the direction of the titan for one second. In what could have been his final words he only urges his men to carry on with not one thought of survival.

One anime that broke me out of nowhere is Shirobako, Ep 23 when they are in the recording studio and she's hearing her friend voicing a character in the anime she's put so much work into. Then all of a sudden, all the emotions hit her at once, they've done so much work to get there and it's really happening. She starts balling, holding the script up to her face trying to hide it. That moment made me cry so hard, and I find myself thinking about that moment every so often. It's a happy moment full of so much emotion that it's a fav scene of mine.

For me that scene was extremely cathartic. As a Dutch person, our 'direct' straight to the point no bullshit nature and attitude is the exact opposite of the way of being of the Japanese. Because of that, such a thing as a chuuni cannot exist in our society. They'd be ridiculed and laughed at and pulled straight within 5 seconds after uttering a chuuni-esque rubbish sentence. So seeing chuuni people in Anime being allowed, tolerated and/or ignored by their surroundings in Anime always felt a bit off to me. ""Why isn't anyone calling them out on this bullshit?! Fucking timid useless people omg!". This scene, thus, felt better than sex to me. It showed me that the people around chuuni idiots DO think they're weird, and they aren't just Skyrim NPC's that you can just rob by crouching in front of them as you pickpocket them in broad daylight as they're speaking to you.

I believe that was one of the things that made Saori Hayami more of a household name. She definitely had her fair share of roles prior to 2014, but after that point you can see the amount of work she gets skyrocket from that year onward. @@world4saker she did try to understand that's the whole point of the speech, she was frustrated and jealous that tomoyo could easily understand, she straight up said it when she told tomoyo that she was in love andou. Hatoko is a smart girl, she's just not as creative as him. She didn't ignore any of it either cause I believe it was episode two they were doing a "monthly powers check-up" where she fought with chifuyu using her powers over the elements, she clearly had been practicing with them probably in order just to get closer to andou. One might think she was being creative but I saw as more scientific given that she chose to turn fire and earth into magma

19:23 I think this happens for me quite a lot. There are few anime I regard as being able to make me cry "with every episode" and those would be Violet Evergarden, Gakuen Babysitters, and My Roomate Is A Cat. They have their sad moments but more often than not, it's just the purely wholesome, touching and bittersweet moments that make me cry - like genuine tears streaming down my face, crying. Not just teary eyed. Or I'll hear the soundtracks from some animes and feelings just overwhelm me and I feel my nose start to be stuffy and I start getting teary eyed. That happens *everytime* I hear "Across The Violet Sky" for instance (which is also from Violet Evergarden).

What makes the supernatural are commonplace scene all the more heart breaking to me is how much she clearly tried to understand him, she remembered it all even if she couldn't understand it. As someone who often goes on unhinged technical rants to people who rarely listen, even if shes venting her frustration, it is genuinely heartwarming to know that she was infact listening to every word he said.

My favorite thing on Flowers of Evil were the flowers, the spiky/fuzzy little eyeballs on stalks that all turned to look at you, a whole field of eyes just watching you, it was so surreal yet so interesting, as for the artwork, once you learn the process of how it was made, it gives you an appreciation of the effort it took, as far as I know, it is the only anime that used rotoscoping to make it's characteristic look, and this was before they had auto rotoscoping tools or AI that can convert live video into anime or illustrated style videos, so it took a very long process to make, that's why the art style looks so realistic, cause it's live acting with added illustrated details like the flowers themselves, that gives it it's unique appearance.

@@Necrapocalypse Personally did not make it to episode 6. I had finished the manga and the art style of the anime really did not click with me. In the focus it was fine if a bit strange but in the background details popped in and out wildly. Personally what stuck with me is the ending song. I could no tell you what the opening sounded like but the ending knocked it out of the park so much that in the ten years I have not had a more terrifying song. In the first episode when the voice picks up you know you are in for some real horror not the kiddy stuff. Just looked up the opening and it is fine and the ending is not super special out of context but it ties in so very nicely in the first few episodes. The whole thing reminded me of scums wish. Just less funny and more scary. :)

The last scene from Vinland Saga season 1 where Thorfinn is screaming at Askeladd not to die is one of the best scenes in anime. The raw emotion that is both drawn and voiced gives me chills every time. Askeladd's carefree tone of voice contradicts Thorfinn's screaming to a perfect blend of emotion. Seeing everything Thorfinn has worked up to for the whole show thus far being ripped away from him just for it to hint at what's to come by Askeladd asking him what his purpose will be after he's dead. And him dropping the knife and his life flashes before his eyes is the perfect ending to the season. Such a good show all around but that scene is a masterpiece.

It feels like every emotion built up throughout the whole first and second season comes out together in the last song they play together, it literally feels the whole two seasons were made for that only one episode, as everyone's background, ideas, emotions, wishes, everything, mesh together in the song they play together. It always gets me whenever I rewatch it. It is 8 straight minutes of you not even knowing what hit you, after it finishes you are just there existing lol

Like that exact feeling like ur crying just...cos it's nostalgic or ur so happy or u recognize the moment that this is....that anime was just so wonderful. Now don't get me wrong I also loud cry watching it during the sad parts too...but ugh that scene came on as soon as u started talking about it and i was like tearing up again! it's such a good anime. One anime moment I always come back to is episode 5 of Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash. This entire situation the characters are in, the grieve they feel and how they handle it on their own culminates in this confrontation near the bath house. It's such an incredicle moment of two people sharing their hurt and grieving together that you wouldn't expect what nowadays could be seen as "yet anothet isekai". This scene lives rent-free in my head.

@@WateryStar same for me. I don't read LN but I made an exeption for this one. It's unfortunate that the author lets the story meander in such a way that doesn't allow any tied ends to big mysteries. So after 12 volumes I dropped it. Nevertheless, the anime is still a unique experience and holds up really well.

I'd recommend playing the VN if you haven't. Stories almost exactly the same (except a couple scenes that got cut), but the various bad endings go through some of those what if scenarios and it can delve into the science of everything a lot more since it's a novel.

The one that recently gave me these moments is 86, many scenes in 86. Also, I haven't watched A place further than the universe, but it somehow hit me while watching this video. I just came back from Japan, and I don't know, it just reminded of my trip. It was my first visit to Japan, also went to visit my brother, and that trip felt more than a vacation, it felt like I was at home and roaming free, and this video made me feel that.

Honestly, my favorite example of powerful English voice acting comes from an abridged series lol. SAO Abridged was always fun, but my god Suguha’s voice actress kills it in the most recent episode (episode 17, I think) during that scene where they figure out they’ve been playing together. It’s just such a raw performance on her part

@@Yunglex313 If you feel like SAO had some missed potential I think it's worth checking out. It takes a while I feel before the character development starts to be apparent, but the development definitely is there in the abridged series. I feel like Kirito was way too much of a blank character in the original series and the abridged does a good job of remedying that issue

what hits so hard about inou battle in that particular scene is despite the fact that she goes on and on about how much she doesn't understand anything he's ever said, she still goes on and on about all the things he has said. she never stopped listening and trying to understand him. sure it's all nonsense to her but it means enough to him that she took the time to not only remember it all but tried to understand it. the show was a typical harem setup where you know only one girl can win in the end but truly none of the others really had a chance. and that's saying something considering she wasn't even my favorite of the lot.

Ditto.... and I mean, hell, the very few first frames showing up on my screen have turned me into a crying mess in an instant (and, sure, I might be in a vulnerable spot right now and it might contribute to that a lot- but that series has made me cry more times than it ever had the right to back when I watched it anyway, so--). I think it's because of how uplifting it is. It's sheer, unadulterated *life* in a way few things are and directed flawlessly to show and share that energy. It doesn't make us cry because it's sad or painful or distressting - it makes us cry because it resonates so deeply it's like touching a raw nerve every time, regardless of whether that resonance is due to past experience or thought about the present or the future. It just absolutely *rings*.
