Past management has been awful, yes. But I think the important thing to consider is who hired them?... Owner Glen Taylor. Every dark spot in team history has had Taylors signature on it. Connelly was brought in by ARod and Lore. This December is when Taylor hands over the majority interest. Gobert will bounce back next season and finch should get fired after the playoffs.... I expect Towns to be traded right after the draft when he's eligible per the supermax rules of can't be traded for a year after signing the supermax.

Interesting video, and it's not just bad drafting and bad trades that causes Minnesota problems with winning, it's also the fact Minneapolis isn't a desirable free agent destination for star players in the off-season, especially with their brutal winters.

Edwards is one of the only stars under 21 who's been to the playoffs 2 years in a row. He has vets ilke Mike Conley and Kyle Anderson etc. to guide him and excellent young players like Jaden McDaniels, Naz Reid, Nickeil Alexander Walker and Josh Minott to grow with him. The trade was an overpay but the floor of this team is raised to get Ant to the postseason every year. Ex: even though they had significant injuries, they made it to the playoffs this year. Ant will likely have 7 years of straight playoff experience before he even enters his prime. Not many young stars get that. Doesn't sound like hte team is ruining Ant because they are doing the opposite of prior Wolves rosters - they are trying to win. KAT, Wiggins etc. were surrounded by losing and turnover. This is different. Many young stars are on tanking or rebuilding teams whereas Ant has vets to guide him and consistent playoff experience. That sounds pretty good to me.

Kat missed much of this year, and the wolves were hit with consistent injuries and a major illness that swept through the team the last week or so of the year. Also, the standings were super close together and the wolves were 2 games out of the 6th seed. If we had jaden and naz back, we would be so much better. Agree we need to trade kat tho

Minnesota is getting talked about because they're actually in the playoffs and not posting a 20 win season like they usually have the past 20 years. People don't talk about Minnesota because they're an irrelevant bottom bin franchise. When they make the playoffs they actually come up a bit in conversation and relevance. And everytime there is something to say, there isn't anything actually good to say about the Wolves. 34 year old franchise. 6 seasons with less than 20 wins. 16 with less than 30 wins. 4 seasons with 50 wins. Why would anyone have anything good to say about the Wolves?

So facts: 1. Kevin Garnet (KG) leaves, he wins a championship. 2. They trade Kevin Love for Andrew Wiggins, Kevin Love wins a championship. 3. They trade Andrew Wiggins, and he goes on to win a championship. Conclusion: To superstar and star talent on the Timberwolves - 'Things can get better, but they might have to get better somewhere else.' I'm not saying you should leave but if opportunities and situations align in ways that you lead to your depature from the Timberwolves, history has shown you'll likely be better off. While Jimmy Butler hasn't one a championship, yet, he has lead a team to NBA finals, and appears to be doing all he can in his quest to be champion in the NBA.

Worst front office in the league … how can you possible trade everything for Gobert, especially when you have KAT who should be playing Center not power forward. Timberwolf’s looked great last season with Vanderbilt at the 4 who complemented KAT much better then Gobert who is overrated… The only thing they needed to do is trade D’Angelo Russel for 3&D wing like OG or Grant … or go all in for Pascal who atleast complements KAT & Anthony Edward … Timberwolf’s are wasting Anthony Edwards talent …

TWolves fan here so expect some bias. I just can’t fully agree. KG moved on good for him I can’t be mad at that this team has always been dysfunctional. Wiggins HAD to go. He didn’t wanna be in Minnesota to begin with (felt like it) and eventually just stopped trying for the team. But our young talent is KILLER. How could you forget Jaden McDaniels? Dude is a 1st team defender. Naz Reid has proven to be big along with NAW and SloMo. The Rudy trade was terrible ofc but Ant isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. He loves Minnesota and he has a team he can absolutely win with. Kat is still a stud player that is criminally hated by refs. This team is a good team and will only grow. The front office has finally gotten much needed changes and even and ownership switch. The future is bright for this team. Keep Kat and trade Rudy for a solid bench center. That’s my take

I fundamentally believe it's sports management culture within the Minnesota state as a whole. It's why the Vikings, twins, and wolves can't catch a break ever. Granted the Wild and Lynx do good, so maybe they need cross sports collaboration with the leaders of those entities for feedback

When I saw that the Jazz got 5 1st round draft picks for Gobert plus some good role players I laughed my ass off cause what we got for Gobert is very similar to what Boston got when they traded KG, Paul Pierce, Jason Terry to the Nets……Except the difference is that it was for one player who was in fact an allstar and 3 time defensive player of the year and isn’t nearly at the same level as The Truth and KG……How is it possible to get that much for just one player the answer? Having Danny Ainge as part of the Utah Jazz Organization and making a deal with the most idiotic organization in all of sports because they thought they could compete for a championship with Gobert and Towns in the same front court while the idea was intriguing little did they know that KAT is better suited for the starting Center position instead of PF and after the traded they thought they could compete for a championship when they made that trade and then one season later the best they could do is a playin tournament bid and losing in 5 games to the Nuggets that isn’t even close to a team competing for a championship and the only way it’s possible for them to improve the roster is trading towns because they traded most of there picks to my Jazz LMAO 🤣 😊…..

Young top picks don't win chips on their drafted teams. You can count less than a handful, if even, in the modern era. The teams are too shitty and take too long to be good (if they even have a competent plan). Then, their guy wants out, or becomes unaffordable, or just time to move on to the next tank. It's actually better to be kind of mid, bide your time, have cap, develop from within on guys you can afford, open a 3-4 year window, and scoop up top prospects off their rookie or second deal contracts. Tanking for talent gets you nowhere. There might be two front offices that can implement that type of vision, and it will literally take a decade of focus. Otherwise, you stay in the basement forever.
