The Disney Wish is FINALLY here! I am SO excited to get onboard but today I am going over why I booked my cruise on the Wish a few months from now and how saving LOTS of money is a GREAT idea!

It’s interesting how your fear of missing out perspective differs between the parks and the cruises. You say you’d wait a few months before going on the ship but were there for Pandora, Toy Story Land, and both Galaxy’s Edges. Then there’s the point of “well the ship still has some kinks to iron out.” That does make sense but then you realize when Galaxy’s Edge opened, it was missing an entire ride. I think this all just comes down to the price. There’s no need to mention the ironing out part when all you really have to say was “I just didn’t want to pay for the maiden voyage.”

The cost aspect he brings up does come into play for a new cruise ship vs a new land/ride. The maiden voyage fairs for the Disney Wish were as he said double($1500+) what a cruise later on would cost. Versus a new ride or land might only require a special ticket costing $100-200.

Park tickets don’t go up for a new ride though. There’s a huge difference.

If I was a KZbinr I would want to go first and I would not mind paying the extra cost. Because as a KZbinr that is what your audience wants to see. It’s your job to bring us along and show us what is happening. If I was not a KZbinr, I would wait and go once I have seen what your recommendations are and based on that I would plan my trip. And pay less. So I guess it just depends, on what is the purpose of the trip. I do believe you should have gone in the first voyages and provided us with the information that we look for in your videos. This is my POV. Cheers

I completely disagree with your statement for you. As a content creator, and influencer, it is important that you be on one of the first sailing. I say within a month. Maybe not go the first 5, if you want to wait a tad, but after that you should go.... the argument can also be said that the employees and all the things that make a event happen, will be close to what they had envision, while overtime, employees and everything else begins to just not be as perfect as the first events were.... ie Galaxy Edge

When it comes to the ship I don’t think cast members will start letting things slip, considering Disney is always swapping cast members on board, theirs never the same cast members on board for a long period of time, also like Michael said for a while the wish is gonna be more expensive since it’s a new ship with lots of excitement around it, if you can wait a couple months or even a year out you’d save so much money, just because someone does KZbin for a living doesn’t always mean they have unlimited disposable income.

Can’t argue with the numbers at all or with the kinks being all out so you get the very best experience. It’s exactly what we did. Makes way more sense!! Now the wait is no fun, but getting to go more then once to wait just a little longer is totally worth it. Great video and can’t wait to see you Wish vlogs!

We were lucky enough to be on the maiden voyage! 😀 I believe it was the most exciting Cruise we have ever been on because we were with so many passionate Disney cruise fans. Diehard Disney fans are some of the hardest fans to please. So there was some negative people that tried to find fault with everything, but overall the experience was truly ‘Wishable” 😆 or “A Wish Come True”. I would compare the experience to like opening day of a new land where everyone’s excited and happy and you can feel the love for Disney or “The Waves Of Disney” that type of energy every where you go. The cast members ,the crew ,the passengers, everyone was smiling.

When it became available, I booked the cheapest one, well two, end of August, beginning of September. I'm sure it will be great. I've missed vacations for 2.5 years so haven't spent a lot on them 🙂

I was booked on the Wish July 4-8 before the maiden voyage was pushed back. We were paying an outrageous amount for an inside stateroom. I was looking at other cruise lines and found I was able to take two 7 day cruises with balconies for the price of the 4 day Disney cruise. I’ll eventually get on the Wish but I can wait and try other cruise lines in the meantime.

Agreed- going on the maiden voyage and probably the first month or two after… ship will have its kinks… however the July/August cruises will always be more $ than September for example because they are during the summer break for a lot of districts still. Then come Nov-Feb Bahamas cruises can be cool at times, so less ideal weather. We booked end of August 2022 on opening day and the price was pretty good, almost half of what it is today for the Wish. Maiden voyage though….$$$$$

I would assume that he couldn't get on the Maiden since it was on super platinum folks....it sold out before all platinums even had a chance. I was surprised that he didn't get invited to be on one of the "test cruises" in the last couple of weeks with other vloggers and influencers.....

Definitely waiting!! Got our trip book for February it’s our anniversary! And I used my 10% from my last cruise. It was for sure !! way cheaper!! And I love going off season!! Too much hype in the beginning, it’s hard to enjoy when everyone if hogging up everything for pics and videos!! I’m excited, but glad I waited!! Thanks for the video!! I'll be on the Wish in late October - yes, price had a major factor. 40 years ago I might have been eager to sail on the Maiden or the one after. However, with age comes wisdom. Cruise lines price to those with FOMO, but a year from now... having sailed the first month or the fourth month will mean the same.

I think of the going first thing is just about content creators, I don’t think people really care about being first, not because of financial reasons bust just because regular guess don’t really care. But I can see content creators wanting to be first to bring their followers excited content for of course views.

Here's a story from the Disney Magic on her third sailing. We were staying in the Roy Disney Suite; well, on her second sailing in the Roy Disney Suite, the guests were the Olsen twins. During our week, we got to know maintenance very well because they had to fix, repair, or replace everything in the suite.

They trashed the suite? We’ve had this happen with hotel rooms and had to be switched but omg this is terrible! There is only one of those suites I believe?

Disney's one of those companies where you don't have to be "first one on" it to feel special. You can go any time in the first year if you want to experience the magic. It's really kind of nice that way. I don't know how they do it, maybe it's their attention to detail. 🙂

I booked for October. There were several reasons, but at the end of the day I figured they would have most of the kinks worked out by then. I've been watching some of the influencer videos for those that went on the press tours or those that were first, but those itineraries seemed condensed and jumbled. What I like about Michael's videos is that he goes day by day and you feel like you're on the cruise. I watched my first Michael Kay video before doing the Marvel Day at Sea Cruise. My experience lined up so well with that, that I feel even influencers can wait a bit before going on the ship and still get the views and give people what they really want to know. The current videos I have seen to this point are disjointed, nitpicky, or don't show an actual cruisers experience because it's about press and not about cruising. Just my two cents. Michael, wait for a bit, I'll still watch your stuff.

I always thought it was worth it to go on the maiden voyage until I saw this video. Makes 100% total sense. Why pay more for 1 when you can pay the same for 2. I will NEVER plan to do a maiden voyage again, EVER!
