Hello beautiful family. Aldecia, first, of all your son is getting more handsome every time I see him. And he looks so much like his daddy. Second, I completely and totally understand what you saying about speaking only one language to your son. It's your family and only you know what's best and what works for your family; I respect that. But let me tell you my bilingual family experience. I'm from Angola I speak Portuguese that's my first language my mother use to speak a dialect but unfortunately both my parents passed away and never had a chance to learn. I left Angola 20 years. I had to learn English obviously, and I also speak Spanish, and a little bit of other languages. I'm married to an American we live in the United States. I have three children and every since they were born I started speaking Portuguese with them, and because my husband doesn't speak Portuguese, he speaks English with them. I decided to teach them Portuguese early on because my family in Angola speak Portuguese only and I want my kids to be able to communicate with them. So, I do the one parent one language kind of thing. Now they are 4, 6 and 7 years old and they speak both English and Portuguese. The concept of one parent one language works. If you speak your language only with your son and Andrew speaks English only with him, trust me, it might take a week or two for him to adjust to the change, but with a little bit of time and patience and be consistent with him, he'll know what's up, he will get it in no time. We, the parents sometimes are the ones that think the kids are not capable, they are capable of so much more, way more than adults are, specially when it comes to a learning matter. I'm sure you've heard the saying or term that kids are like sponges, and yes they are. They observe and catch on everything we say and do even when we think they are not learning or getting it at all. Your son still a baby and if you want to teach him a second language, now is the perfect time to start. And yes, it is confusing for them when it's too many languages at the same time, but when it's only two and you adopt the concept one person or one parent one language from the start, it works my virtual friend. It works. By the time they are 3, 4 years old, they are bilingual and then you can introduce other languages you want them to learn. My kids now they're even interested in learning Spanish as well. I will teach them Spanish and later on Hebrew. Just wanted to share a little bit of my experience. I hope you get to see this though. Love you guys. I second that.. It works like a charm.. I'm in child development and I've worked with families, one being a close friend.. When each parent sticks to one language and English is for ppl outside the home and school kids pick it up. By the age 3 and 4 both my friend's boys were fluent in English, Sweden, and Farsi. It does get hard cos they do get frustrated with the languages earlier on..but their minds are sponges and the First 3 years are vital for stuff like this.. I commend you for what you gave your kids- culture and pride. I'm also African living in the States (South African) and I plan on doing the same for our future kids.

You should try the Ashton and Parsons powder from Clicks/Dischem & the Teething Mixture from a pharmacy its purple in colour, to help with relief from teething. My niece's teeth grew quickly while experiencing minimal pain.

Hey Swirlers 😍 Kuddos A. Bout teaching Nolan other languages. I been speaking English to my kid since he was in the womb,He's 9 today and that's the only language he knows and other languages he will learn whenever, reason being I am not going to stay in SA longer and ENGLISH will make him communicate better with other people (which has been happening) and he can blend anywhere with anybody. What other things does he eat beside breast milk at 5mo that breast milk alone does not hold him for very long at his age he should be sleeping at least 3 to 4hrs at nite one or two hrs is for new born infant he needs oats rice something of substance else you will be exhausted from lack of sleep
