Instead of the plot, I'm just very grateful that I'm born in this modern era. I can't even imagined how terrifying and dangerous it was to give birth back then. No wondet fillial piety (especially to mother) were practically sacred in most of Asian countries. Those mothers really put one foot on afterlife just to deliver their babies. (And after all the hardship, I can't understand how consort Ling could just left her daughter to be raised by consort Ying without visiting her even once. All the other princes either died (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th, 10th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 16th), lost favour with the Emperor and was made only a second-rank prince when all the other princes were made first-rank prince (8th) or beat up their wives, making them ineligible to be Emperor (11th). She became the Empress after she died but it was only Shengmu Empress, meaning she became Empress because of her son becoming Emperor, and not because of the Emperor's affection for her. So while this is only a drama, it is still historically accurate to portray Empress Xiaoyichun / Lady Weigiya as a villain who ultimately still did not gain the true affections of the Emperor

@@asakomifune5430 your last statement is a bit of a reach considering none of us actually have first hand knowledge of what happened in Qianlong's harem and the fact that the historical Consort Ling bore 7 children for the emperor. She would only really be able to have that many children if she was constantly favoured and considering her family had no political importance, the emperor would be favouring her because he wanted to and not because he had to. Its also not fair to say she was a villain as there's no evidence for that and Ruyi is the only piece in recent history that had framed her as a villain

I am arguing that it is in fact not historically inaccurate to portray her as a villain, since there is no evidence suggesting that she was NOT a villain. I am not saying she was actually a villain, I am simply saying that this drama is not wrong for SPECULATING that she may have been a villain. Also, while it is true that Qianlong must have favoured Lady Weigiya to some extent, it is also true that Lady Weigiya was still ultimately not made Muhou Empress (Muhou Empress is the main wife of the Emperor, and the person buried with him in death. The Qing believed that they will see the person buried with them in the afterlife. The fact that Qianlong did not have Lady Weigiya made Muhou Empress suggests that he did not want to see Lady Weigiya in the afterlife). This means that Qianlong's love for Lady Weigiya was inferior to his love for Lady Fuca and his INITIAL love for Lady Nara, since both of them were previously made Muhou Empresses (meaning that he loved them so much that he wanted to see them in the afterlife). "her family had no political importance" This was true when Lady Weigiya first entered the palace, but by the end of the Qing Dynasty her father had already risen to an important position within the Imperial Household Department through his own personal merit, meaning that her family was not some nobody anymore by the time she became Imperial Noble Consort. So while it is true that Lady Weigiya was of a low background in the beginning, it is not true to say that she was made Imperial Noble Consort DESPITE her low family background (since her father had already attained important positions in court by then)

In this drama, the eason why she got her empress title after her death was because the emperor (or empress dowager) killed her before her son ascended to prevent her from living as an empress. And I forgot why she died in Yanxi's Palace.
