People REALLY take care of them now. 10-15 years ago they were valued in the teens and everyone just wrecked them. thankful even some of the rough cars get love now

There's been this offal squealing coming from my car, and I finally got my answer, I thought it was gonna be like a diff issue, because it's coming from the rear, and only happens under load, but nope, it's the muffler whistling, because it's starting to brake down internally and now it whistles. Point is, Just having this noise figured out has taken such a weight off my shoulders it's wild, I'm no longer hearing that, and associating it with the fear that my differential or something like that is dyeing on me, and it's just such a relief, the consensus right now is the car is in great shape, just needs an alinement and tire rotation. The confidence that comes with simply knowing exactly what sounds are coming from where on your car is so nice.

I had a "change oil soon" light in a 2013 Impala. Turns out nearly all the oil was actually burned out gone. It had 2 quarts max in a 6L capacity for a 6 cyl.

Daily a 540i 6 speed for 11.5 years. I fully agree with your comments about keeping them going, always something to do on them and some big tickets items. I've spent allot more on parts for it that what I bought it for. But with out a doubt worth it and the thought I will have to part ways with the car in less than a year due to other life changes is already making me sad! I did recently find the one E39 fix that isn't documented on the internet, how to strip and rekey the driver door lock, when your missing the key!

@@RichRotorhead in short you need a good used cylinder, then strip the cylinder from the rest of the mechanism, drill out the steel bits that hold the barrel in, put key in, remove barrel, transfer the key wafers from original lock barrel to new one and reassemble the new barrel into the old lock body.

Even though I don’t own a m5 I own a 5spd 530i, unfortunately I let the car sit for a little moved it here and there but the times of drove it I just fell in love currently I made the decision and bought a new clutch and brake kit and slowly take care of the maintenance and I would love to get the car repainted But I also noticed your car is dark blue not straight black

My e39 m5 saved my life in a crash back in 2013 I spun out hitting a prius who ran a red light. Hit the prius the the light pole the m5 was literally pushed in halfway. I broke my femur, left wrist was crushed, and I now have a plate in my pelvis. Moral of the story the e39 m5 is built like a tank it saved my life.

I live in FL and you don't need a helmet to ride a motorcycle either. I cycle and I cringe when I see other people riding without a helmet, especially because I know my helmet was the only thing that saved me from certain death last year when I was hit by a car. On a motorcycle you stand basically no chance of survival if you have an accident without a helmet. That aside, I love the look and sound of the E39's! The headlights and taillights are what I envision when someone says "BMW" its a shame recent Bimmers have lost some of their heritage.

Had the exact same color of that car it's called carbon black bought it in 2014 with 178k on the dash for under 10k ..crashed it in October 2019 on the freeway while racing another ///M BMW..to this day every single time I see one these I feel like a complete moron
