It's actually an old Jack Johnson stunt. He followed the champion around the world until a promoter put up so much money that if he denied the fight everyone would know he was a coward. He thought the champion would beat him. The champion(whose name escapes me so I gotta keep calling him that bcz he was... for that time before the eventual fight). The funny thing about it was he fought a much smaller fighter, Sam Langston, who although small hit like a Mack truck. Jack merely survived the fight. Then Sam did to him what Jack did to the champ before him. Lol. My grandfather was a boxer and a WW2 vet, and me being a scrawny sick kid that used to get beat up a lot. He taught me how to fight, but he gave me the history of the sport. So we were losing our minds seeing Briggs do what those two legends did in the days before my grandfather was even born . I mean, for reference, my PopPop was a kid when Joe Louis held benefit nights to raise money for Sam Langston bcz he was old and almost totally blind and all he knew how to do was fight. So he could not provide for himself. So my grandfather's father told him about Sam and Jack. So to see something like that in present day. Words can't express how fun that was. We laughed ourselves to exhaustion when Briggs wanted to get into that press conference, if memory serves me right, it was at a car dealership and security wouldn't let him in and he came with a pie. Briggs had no chill😂😂😂. And at the restaurant when he got water thrown on him. We damn near died. Like bru must've forgot he had his boat circle dude to the waves knocked him into much more water than what was just thrown on him. But him repeating "YOU GON' THROW WATER ON?!?!" While slipping and shii. Man, my parents, siblings, and grandmother would come home to me and my grandfather's corpse if we laughed 30 seconds longer. I'm sure of it. Lmfao. Best time of my life. Even when PopPop got alzhiemers and during our last conversation, he was blind and when my aunt told him I was there and started to explain who I was. He cut her off said my name, named my father and mother and rattled of memories we shared and one of them was watching Shannon trolling for the title. Man, Shannon trolling doesn't get the due it deserves. Lbvs
