Being a Malaysian Tamil, I feel it too. I'm Christian btw and always got questioned about Deepavali as well. But at the end we celebrate all. Festivals and food unites the Malaysian. My Tamil Hindu husband loves Christmas & I am an American who was raised Catholic but enjoy Pongal (also his birthday!). If we all partied a bit more together (in non-COVID times) instead of worrying about the religious parts we'd be a much better planet to live on.
