My heart wretched for Elizabeth for losing her true love before they even got a chance to have a life together. I wish that Daniel Lissing realized that WCTH really gave him his fame. Why can't he remain on the show and do movies on the side? The chemistry of Erin and Dan was the core of the show. The other actors compliment Jack and Elizabeth but the entire show centered around them...

Any show that captures my heart and makes me cry. Is truly done the work. The acting of Erin was amazing. She did a wonderful job, I was crying with her. This had to be the best episode ever. Very emotional. Sad Jack is gone. But happy for the new baby. I think season 6 will speak to many woman out there raising children alone. I came across this series a few weeks ago and fell in love right away. I've been through love, hate, sadness and laughter a few times and more than once each episode. But I must say episode 10 of season 5 was the most emotional and heartbreaking episode I have ever experienced. Even now, two days - two nights - after watching the last episode of the show I'm still crying, thinking of what had happend. It's is something I can't get over. I've had the feeling that Jack would leave for good after the engagement episode but, i still had a little hope that he would return again for the wedding, like he did, and stay in Hope Valley.Then when he left for the Northern Territories again I was sure he was never coming back. 2 minutes into this video tears startet running down my face. I just feel empty inside. Jack was my favorite character of all along with Elizabeth. I am sure gonna need a few weeks coping with the latest episodes. Can't Wait for season six though. But it would't be the same without Jack Thornton. I love you guys. You are and forever will be deep in my heart #hearties

Thank you Brian Bird, Lori Loughlin, Erin Krakow and Daniel Lissing for the love you have shown us Hearties and for taking the time to help us get on the same page with you in the new chapter for Hope Valley but for Daniel Lissing as well. After seeing this, I feel like a beloved family member who has been part of a family counsel discussing a family member who needs to be leaving home so they can spread their wings and fulfill their divine destiny. I no longer and upset with Daniel for leaving and think I can handle watching the season finale without going through too many Kleenexes. I love all the WCTH family and fans! I am looking forward to a great season 6 and will encourage other to continue to watch as well.

same here! just got in on the show and i was absolutely gutted to learn of Jack's fate. however, after watching this video, it did feel like a family sit down to process the grief and although i am not ready to watch the last two episodes of season 5 (so i can pretend they're happily on their honeymoon still), i am much less angry at the turn of events.

My wife and I just started watching the show this season, so the events of the last few episodes didn't present the trauma for us that it obviously has for some of your long term fans. I would like to say that your cast, crew, and writers are fabulous. The quality of your stories and the product you provide is outstanding and a pleasure to watch. Happy day! One word "Wow"! I just stumble upon this gem “When calls the heart” this summer and binge watch all the seasons. It was engaging and charming. This show is a gift and it made my top 10 list of the greatest shows of all time. I love every moment and enjoy all the three dimensional memorable characters who are so heartwarming, funny and zany. The chemistry between Elizabeth and Jack was awesome. They are the best love story of all time! What a great show!! Full of kindness, compassion and faith. Everyone should watch this show. Way to go Hallmark! Wonderfully riveting touching storylines enjoyed the fun and sorrow. Best part about this show that it is clean, family friendly, no foul language or nudity. I don't have to worry about what might be shown on any of these episodes! It really pleases my Christian heart. I am sucker for shows that focus on God and Bible since that is how I try to live my life every day. It is so nice to see programs that are morally wholesome. Values in today's society are lacking and programs seem to be getting away from decency. Not this one! I plead guilty to being a total romantic and this series satisfies my very being. My only regret is not knowing about this show years ago and the bittersweet issue for me is the fact that this is last season to see Jack and Elizabeth together. I took Mountie Jack death pretty hard, I was ugly-crying the whole episode. The last time I cry over a TV death was another Jack from This is Us show that was brutal 2 Jacks in one year its unfair ( I know I need to get a life lol but I am a very emotional/sensitive soul) it was heartbreaking and I felt it more because I recently lost someone I love in death. The show always about bringing lighthearted fun, hope, positivity to me. It always leaves me in a pleasant mood except for Jack death. I finally went through the last part of grief acceptance because at least he got to die like a hero. If Jack was going to be killed off, he died in an honorable way, but I am proud of the show and of everyone ( cast/crew/writers/producers) trying to be supportive for Daniel Lissing and making the best of a sad situation. Hence, Daniel wanted to leave the show so the producers had no choice. Let's be real Jack death was shocking because he is the lead character but it wasn't surprising in the last 2 seasons he was barely on the show. Yes, I noticed his absence was felt the show lacked magic without Jack. Although I do love the ensemble cast, however, I live for Jack and Elizabeth romance. They were the standout stars on the show I look forward to seeing them onscreen because they bring the show to life. Now I wish we could go back in time have Jack and Elizabeth get marry in the 3rd season, have children in the 4th season and then end their epic romance in season 5 because I can see why fans are upset they didn’t give time for them to enjoy being married. They really dragged out their courtship for too long. Future shows should prepare themselves if they are doing a romance don't drag it out because you never know when the main star on the show will leave. Just my two cents! I respect Daniel choice and wish him the best in his future but it definitely will not be the same without him. So, watching next season will be hard for me but I am hardcore fan/ heartie that will support this show no manner what. That was cathartic for me lol to write!!! So turns out watching the episode a second time. You'll cry be even more than the first time. My daughter (age 6) and I started watching this show when only the first season was on Netflix and then we quickly got my husband hooked. We're all upset over the loss if Jack especially my husband who mainly watched the show due to what Daniel added to the show. After watching the wedding episode my daughter said joking around that Elizabeth was going to get pregnant and Jack was gonna get shot and die. Well two of her predictions were right lol I'm willing to see where you guys go with the stories. I say if Daniel wants to come back to the show in a season or two we could find out that they never found the body, they buried an empty casket and he's been in a coma this whole time

I would suggest that it was a mistaken identity (how, let the writers figure that out) and the real Jack was rescued by someone else but unfortunately had a temporary loss of memory. Just a wish, so they could bring Jack back if Hallmark could ever convinced Daniel Lissing to come back or if Daniel really love the audience as he said he did, would reconsider coming back at least for the sake of the audience he loves.

I totally respect the actors and the crew and appreciate all of the entertainment that you have provided. I am sad with this ending though, and don't agree with Hallmark's decision to kill off Jack. I placed Jack and Elizabeth with other epic love story couples like Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy and Anne and Gilbert. I can't imagine watching a show where they killed off one of those characters right after they got married. The characters of Jack and Elizabeth deserved a happy ending. I think there are many other possibilities than the choice you made. I have zero interest watching Elizabeth go through another off and on again courtship (no dislike or offense intended to Erin Kraków). I love Lee and Rosemary and some of the other characters, but I can't endure all the drama of a single mother Elizabeth. I understand that is real life sometimes, but sometimes we need a break from real life which is why we turn to entertainment. Thanks for the love and laughter! I'm going to leave Elizabeth and Jack in my mind happily married and find some other stories to enjoy!

I could think of a thousand different ways they could have ended the season, especially since Hallmark knew Jack wouldn't be coming back. My suggestion for an ending would have been that Jack & Elizabeth could have decide to move to another town because Jack was offered a new position, and the town also needed a school teacher. They will keep Elizabeth part of the show, with her and Abigail writing letters, or even travelling to visit each other on occasion, and Elizabeth could just fill us in on what her life is like in the new town, without Jack having to make an appearance. That way, nobody dies, and the focus of the show could just change to Elizabeth, Abigail, Bill, Rosemary and Lee instead. Fans still would have been happy with that. I know I would. You could have done better Hallmark.

But what husband and wife NEVER see each other? It'll almost be as if he died cause he'd never be around. And if they wrote letters Daniel wouldn't be on the show to anymore to voice what the letter said. Also it would be boring when shes not in the same place she was in and they'd have to get all new characters for wherever she moves

I just feel like it was just getting good. Family unit!! Then bam! I felt this could have been another old fashion show with many many seasons. This is the only show as a Christian I watch. I've been since the beginning. I understand people have decisions ect... so bless y'all very much. We are just people. We shouldn't worship the characters as we should throw curse words and be rude. I feel like I'm glad there will be a season 6. This was me and My husband's Favorite time together as we watched the show!! I don't blame the people but the devil from greed and selfishness and pride breaking this show up was his master plan because it was on God's side. Do y'all get it??? Big lesson in life and I am speaking to myself as well. We all need to stay content and humbled. God is surly coming back soon anyhow. The cares and riches of this world won't matter.

Thank you Hallmark. Thank you for leaving this up. I want to remind you that this lady stepped up and deflected some of the reactionary responses from this incident in WCTH. She had mentioned that it weighed heavy on her having to contain such a secret regarding the ending. I wish she would have not been thrown away. We miss her. Maybe you thought we would not want to see her anymore, however, that is not true. I Am seeing more people coming out and showing compassion for her. I believe we will see her again. I feel as if you reacted in fear over her situation and your affiliation with her. Christ consciousness is stronger than fear. Ty.

I loved this interview,like everyone else we were saddened by the loss of Jack! But life does go on and we will always be a fan of Daniel’s. We love this series. Read all the books. So we are very appreciative of the view of Lori and the cast to stay true to the values of love patience and hope, that we’re in the original storyline. Episode 10 was truly heartbreaking, we all will need sometime to grieve or at least I do. It was so sad to see Dan go. He has been a part of this family for so long, we have grown to love him so much. Hopefully things will be better in season 6, I can't wait. I am still going to watch the show, I've watched this since the beginning and I intend to stick with it until the very end. Lost my brother to a heart attack this past November. Just a few days after his 50th birthday. My mom, sister, his gf and I watched as paramedics worked on him for the longest time. Needless to say, reality got hard for me. Although I seldom turn on the TV, Hallmark has always been a way to get my mind off of real life. So I watched Christmas movies until the middle of January. Then I remembered watching a couple of seasons of WCTH years ago and that the leading male role reminded me a lot of my brother. So I decided to watch from the beginning. Fell in love with the story. So Jane Austenish. Love everything about this show. So many sick things going on in the entertainment industry make me so thankful for Hallmark. So I had no idea Daniel Lissing left the show. Got a little suspicious after about the 3rd tease that he might not come home to Elizabeth. So I googled and sure enough his character died. I was so sad. Found out that not only did my brother somewhat look like Lissing, they share the exact same initials (DAL), last name is one vowel off from being identical and their birthday is 4 days apart. It was hard for me to finish watching, but I did. Nothing about this helped my grief LOL. So now that Jack is gone, I’m not buying the new storyline. Elizabeth is very independent and creative. She waits 6 years on the perfect man. She’s also very protective of children. And within a year she’s possibly falling for a saloon owner who comes on the show with shady secrets or another mounty who could never fill a Jack’s boots? Nope! Not buying it. Where is her family? I totally expected her father to step up and invest in her future there. Maybe build her and Jack’s dream home for her and hire a farm hand. I expected her to dive into writing and raising her son. And I’m really hoping Lissing comes back some day. Maybe they buried the wrong body. Maybe he was kidnapped or off on a secret assignment instead of training. Lol. Anything would be better than Elizabeth jumping into a relationship. It’s ok for a woman to be alone. This doesn’t make sense. Listen to her wedding vows. She gave him her soul.

Listen I just started watching when calls the heart on netflix. ..I saw it advertised on hallmark but never could catch it on there and so I spent my evenings watching that beautiful show it warms my heart ❤such a beautiful cast wonderful endearing storyline love the romance between Elizabeth and Jack. ...it broke my heart you hear that Jack /Daniel is leaving and being killed off I cried😢 ....I love the show I will keep watching when calls the heart and to Daniel Lissing may your new adventures and projects be bless I wish you all success

I cried a lot but I understand life has changes. This passed year I lost a couple of friend this year and watching the grief of the characters each showed the love of the show. From the little girl, to his old friend. I look forward to next year, I'm glad it will come back.

thank you for this closure and explanation. best wishes, Dan. you are amazing and i appreciate your contribution to the show. I figured you must have decided to leave for them to write you off. I really think you did an amazing job with the finale. this is part of life, and is what happened a lot of times back in the time period where this story takes place. I thought Erin did a phenomenal job acting. you took us thru the different phases of grief. I liked the scene where they had an "intervention" of sorts...when the ladies shared their feelings when they had lost their loved ones. I think this show will help people who are grieving know that what they are experiencing is not unique to them; they are not alone. That, although there are really no words to "make it better", it is comforting to know there are always people who will be there for you. looking forward to season 6.
